I mean it is such a confusing pick to me with Penix. Have not really studied the rest of their draft.

All we can do is laugh at them. We have an ultra sunshine pumper who will never criticize the front office and will tie themselves into knots trying to justify this pick (and we all know who it is), but smart Falcons fans realize how astronomically stupid the front office proved themselves to be this weekend.

Blank spent his whole childhood being stuffed into garbage cans. He never played any sports and he knows absolutely nothing about sports this has been demonstrated over and over and over. How long did he keep Thomas Dimitroff around?

I know you are asking Flacons fans for their opinion but I am going to comment anyway...
Not only was it a stupid pick but they screwed up the draft for other teams... No one had Penix going to the Falcons with the first pick... It screwed up every team's pick after that... But the positive point I can see is it forced the Saints to make the smart and obvious pick... But if Bowers had been there it would have been a tough decision...

That has nothing to with the them stepping on their dicks last weekend, Because if indeed that happens, it will be with Cousins at QB. And they would be an even better team with the 8th overall pick on the field contributing and not holding a clipboard.
And if they miss winning the NFC South or making the playoffs by a single game, you can enjoy the controversy when the locker room is pissed/divided when they are constantly reminded that the #8 overall player could've been that one game difference this year, instead of holding the clipboard.

But should Penix emerge as a top 15 QB in year 3, 4 or 5 and take Atlanta to playoffs no one will credit the GM. They will still call it a dumb pick while other teams are still wandering the desert looking for “their” QB.

I'm a big Blank critic but this is a stretch. He's not even the worst owner in the NFL, that belongs to David Tepper and it's not particularly close.

If your are worried about 4 or 5 years from now making the playoffs, correct no one will credit the GM because he would have already been fired. The Falcons were in win now mode with the division being so weak. They need help on defense and instead of drafting the best defensive player in the draft, he took a backup. In the 3 of the last 4 drafts he has taken a TE with the 4th overall pick, and a running back and backup QB with consecutive 8th overall picks.

He needs to win a Super Bowl in one of those years if all he becomes is a top 15 QB. Top 15 QBs who get paid big money don't win a damn thing in the NFL because they aren't good enough to carry the load on offense when their weapons get priced out.
Penix has to become Mahomes level good for this move to work.

Dude, if you believe Dallas Turner is some sort of defensive savior then so be it. I do t think he’s nearly as good as the guy the Falcons took in the 3rd. Just because he played on national TV every week for Bama and benefited from being surrounded by studs doesn’t make him worth the #8 pick. Heck he was taken at 17 so I guess all those other GM’s are stupid as well. The Falcons absolutely addressed their defensive needs.

I hated the pick but still think this team can have success. There will be “Put Penix In” signs day 1 and I don’t think that will be helpful.

And they shouldnt. Again (for the millionth time), the Penix pick in itself wasnt bad. The Penix pick AFTER the Cousins signing and contract was beyond stupid. Just because Penix works out doesn't excuse the process.
