We’re getting Fried. Dodgers are getting Beuhler.
Did they make any other moves?

I hear ya. We were just talking the other day about the Fred McGriff deal in ‘93. 15-year-old Hot Carl was super excited. I’m forgetting some of the other big deals we’ve made at the deadline over the years. They’re always so exciting. But zero of them led to us winning the World Series that year (Joc/Eddie/Soler were great in hindsight, but pretty “meh” at the time).
I agree that it made today a lot less fun, but with a little time, I think we’ll be glad that we added a decent or piece while holding onto Grissom, AJSS and co. Try looking at it like we “added” Grissom for free since he’ll be up soon.
Of course, I’m talking out of both sides of my mouth as I was the main one on here pounding the table to go all in to make sure we didn’t waste what’s likely to be our best team in this window. So don’t listen to me. I can talk myself into anything.

I just think we could've increased our bullpen talent while still keeping AJSS and Grissom.

Probably. I was just using them as examples because we’ve seen them in Atlanta and they are probably our most valuable pitcher and position player assets. But what bullpen guy that would have made us significantly better was actually available? Padres were buyers, so Hader was out.
AA is on the broadcast talking about balancing short-term vs. long-term. Like I said Jay Johnson was gonna have to find a way to balance serving the ‘24 LSU team and the ‘25 ones and beyond.
And I bet he makes a big move for a front line SP over the offseason and we’ll package some guys in it that we wound up keeping today.

AA becomes more pear-shape each year he comes up to the booth for the deadline interview.

Well to be fair, Atlanta is a very good , and underrated, food town.
And not to mention all the eateries in The Battery.

There might not be a more appropriate special guest in the booth on trade deadline day than Fred McGriff.

One of the greatest deadline acquisitions in the history of the sport.
Tonight is also McGriff bobblehead night

No doubt. Loved him as a player, and seems like a genuinely nice and just happy dude. So happy for him that he finally got inducted into the Hall. Though, I think it’s a travesty it was before Dale Murphy.

Murph will get in the same way Crime Dog did, via the retired players' committee.

Perhaps you should have taken the time to read the quote my post referenced
Bowman’s statement is the joke.

quote: Bowman: quote: No last-minute deals for the Braves this year. They built a lot of bullpen depth and got the backup infielder they needed over the past week.
What a joke. The moves were lukewarm at best. They added a guy who is iffy as a leverage reliever and replaced a multi-DFA level utility man with a slightly warmer body.

Why don't you just send us a link to The Battery's website and your personal coupon code for 10% off appetizers?

oddly enough, Murphy would have been better off and likely a first ballot HOFer had he gotten arthritis or some other debilitating ailment forcing him to retire at age 30/31 ala Koufax. He simply doesn't have the career WAR or other numbers to get him over the hump due in spite of the insane 6 year run he went on.
Andruw is in a similar boat...had 60+ WAR by age 30. He has even more of an argument to be in than Murphy does, IMO.

Gotcha.
You must have some downvoting stalkers.
I gave you an upvote.

Yeah, I do. It is what it is. If I bother them that much where they have to downvote every post of mine than that's a "them" problem.

Good post
Andruw should of been in a while ago IMO, he has more of a resume for Cooperstown than Murph.
