DOB-

A year ago, Hand posted a 2.80 ERA in 55 appearances for the NL pennant-winning Phillies, and had two scoreless appearances in the World Series.

Need? No

But would you feel better having Duvall in LF against LHPs or maybe Soler against LHPs instead of Rosario?

That about kills it for Atlanta, as the Braves don't pay numbers like that for anyone, at least recently.

Whoever the Mets trade him to, they’ll be footing roughly 50% of the salary, like they did when they dealt Scherzer

The thought of paying $46 million to get rid of Verlander is something else.

The Braves will be Brad Hand's ninth MLB team. He'll become the first player in MLB history to play for every NL East team

Francoeur was close. Only needed a stint with Washington to complete it.

BTW...I know he wasn't all that good but I'm surprised Francoeur only amassed something like 6 WAR for his entire career.

See, this plays. I think we forget we only have 1 LH in the pen and he’s coming off the IL after a pec injury on his throwing side. If anything, he’s insurance in case Lee doesn’t come back.

Read this somewhere, Hand was with the Phillies last year throughout the playoffs. He’s pitched in 10 postseason games. Has an unimpressive 7.88 ERA. However, in 6 of those 10 appearances, he hasn’t given up a run.

Not the move that’s gonna win us the World Series, but got him for nothing. If he can just come in and get a couple lefties out a couple times a week the next 2 months, even if he doesn’t make the postseason roster, that could contribute to us finishing with the best record in baseball and having home field advantage in the WS.

Some of these little moves fizzle and you wind up trading a guy you got a week ago to the Royals for a light hitting backup middle infielder. Others provide some value that’s hard to see when looking at it from a 162-game macro level.

By the way, my boy Pierce Johnson was impressive with those sharp breaking balls last night. The ones that made it 60 feet, 6 inches anyway. The 58 footers were beating Murphy the frick up.

NO. I feel like we need to add a reliable starter.

I understand there are more buyers than sellers, and I understand our farm system isn't exactly over-flowing with stud prospects...

But we need another dependable rotation piece. Bigtime

Maybe. But I feel like we have one of the best rotations in the league if Max comes back strong.

According to TPS, Braves have highest odds of getting Juan Soto…

LINK

Not sure if I buy it.

We just got Brad Hand for nothing.

Great move

I've wanted him for a minute.

Aside from a few hiccups, he's been a reliable high-leverage guy for a while.

See, I don't feel that way.

Most of the time, Strider is dominant, but he has that 1 inning that gets away from him and it changes his outting.

Elder is a rookie and Charlie is 39. I know both are dependable most of the time..... but I think we can upgrade. At least add another guy so we can get away from the AAA guys at the end.

I stole this from Grant McCauley. He was talking with another guy about the deadline and potential moves. The other guy said with the state of the farm, he didn’t think AA would give up more than 1 or 2 of those guys—pretty sure AJSS is our only top 100 prospect—and so he thought a “big” trade was unlikely.

He was arguing w/Mike Bell, which is the equivalent of arguing w/a 5 yr.old child that he can't have candy.
