He’s going to blame deGrom not wanting to be traded.

“We weren’t going to do a deal just to do one”

(Every other team does the deals getting players who would help us)

Literally every legit NL contender made a move with intention today except for us.

You really couldn’t create a more AA-doubter outcome than the one he just delivered

The fricking Padres, who many thought would be sellers, got Ray and Mize.

We were 22 games above .500 and got no one.

This thread has been gold watching the usual suspects freak out. If Casey Mize keeps you up at night then that’s on you.

Looking at Mahle's stats....he averages more than a K per inning.

842 Ks in 829.2 career innings. He is a career 11 WAR guy.

Going to try and be positive. Mahle might be on the same level as a Mize or Foster Griffin or any of these other second or third tier guys not named Skubal.

If we are throwing any of them behind Sale in a Game 2, is there really any more reason to be excited about Mize over Mahle?

This shite right here is why AA never fears for his job.

I'm not pumping any of these guys up as the answer to a problem. That is kind of my point. If we were not getting Skubal and you throw all these other names in a hat....is there any reason to feel better about Mize or any of these other guys over Mahle?

They are all going to give you a 3-something to 4.00 ERA, it might work or it might not depending on if the guy has his shite together that night in a playoff game.

I haven’t seen the fans this universally pissed in a while. The sunshine pumpers are outnumbered 50-1 at this point.

Uhhh... no

Casey Mize 2.70 (0.99 WHIP)
Foster Griffin 3.06 (1.07 WHIP)
Tyler Mahle 5.13 (1.39 WHIP)

I'm aware of that. Here are their career ERAs

Mahle 4.19
Mize 3.95

All I'm saying is...if it's not Skubal, it's pretty much hope the guy has his shite together come playoff time. He might be on a hot streak or he might get rocked. That goes for any of them.

It's more likely Mahle gets rocked.

And it's not even about the stats to a certain extent, it's about not giving a frick about the season. Like how can AA look at what every other NL team did and what he did and be ok with that?

2021 was supposed to be the beginning of our window... instead, directly because of the moves and lack of moves AA has made, we haven't won a playoff series since.

The Padres gave up a 45+ FV and a total nobody 27 yo with a 7.05 ERA in AAA for Casey Mize.

We couldn't beat that offer? I am completely dumbfounded by this deadline, even though I shouldn't be at this point.
