Just how hurt is Strider? Everyone saying he can only go 2-3 innings is very concerning. If that’s the case then maybe they should’ve just put him in the bullpen role

I think its more about making sure they don't blow his arm up while he is on his way back than his injury. Especially after they just paid him.
Frankly the Braves have invested so much in the bullpen that if they can't work around Strider needing to go sparingly for a few outings then we probably weren't going to win a WS anyway. This situation is exactly why you invest in the bullpen.

. The Braves will tax their pen while playing what could be the first of three straight days.
I don't get this take. The only way the pen will have to be worked 3 straight days is if Morton and Game 5 starter shite the bed. Does it matter if Morton shits the bed today or tomorrow? Will still be 3 days in a row.

If the reports are that Strider can only 2-3 innings, that's 6-7 innings you have to cover, not the usual 3-4.
It's different.

But why does it matter if it's today or tomorrow? If Morton only goes 4 today, bullpen will be taxed regardless. Why does it matter if Morton goes 4 today vs tomorrow?

For sure, no one saw Fried getting lit up like he did.
If you didn't see it as a possibility then you were kidding yourself.
Coming off the flu, it was reported that his strength still wasn't there.
Also, Fried as a history now of shitting the bed in the postseason as a starter.
2020:
NLDS Game 1- 4 IP, 4 ER
NLCS Game 6 - 3 ER in the first inning (he bounced back but that hole cost us and we couldn't come back - this likely gave the LAD starter confidence and he rolled)
2021:
NLCS Game 5 - 4.2 IP, 5 ER
WS Game 2 - 5 IP, 6 ER
He's also just as likely to throw a gem but it seems he is usually good for one dude every series. That combined with his weak nature from the flu, you should have at least seen it as a possibility.

You have ordorizzi to eat innings if Spencer goes south. If he makes it three go Collin, lee, and Chavez to get us to the 7th. Next day your big three would still be fresh.
Stephens would be the inning eater if Charlie sucks.

The Stache is back. Let's go.
Will be interesting to see the Phillies hitting approach. They have to assume he is on a limited pitch count, so do they take a lot early in the hopes of burning him out early? If so can Strider taking advantage by pounding the strike zone? Do the Phillies assume that Strider is going to pound the zone in the hopes of having quicker innings and therefore try to ambush?
I say let's just rock Nola early and relax.
Love playoff baseball.

We've tagged Nola hard in three starts this season, however in his most recent start he shut us out.
Three of his four appearances against us this season have been in Philly.

Big game. If the Braves win this one it should just about be over for the Phillies.

I don't even think the entrance was that cool. The memes about it when it first blew up were good.

I'll be damned if that horn riff doesn't get stuck in your head for while though.

I think Fried was still feeling the after affects of his stomach bug.

Grissom starting at 2B today and hitting 8th.

Interesting. Don’t mind giving him a shot here.

I like the pitching order. If we are going to make any real noise this postseason, someone other than Wright or Fried is going to have to give us something good. Might as well go ahead and see what Spencer can do. I have been expecting us to lose this game all along. I just don’t see us beating Nola in this situation. But, after tonight the pitching advantage drastically shifts to us. I’d rather go with Morton in an elimination game rather than let that be Striders first outing back after injury.
