I hate to see him go, but I’m glad this is over. Time to move forward and make some moves to improve the team.

I’ve never said Grissom is a better shortstop than Dansby. That’s ridiculous today. Maybe in 4 years. What I have been saying is the difference in cost between what Dansby will give and whoever we have at shortstop isn’t worth 25 million. And then y’all turned it into I think Dansby isn’t a solid player. He is a solid player but he isn’t the reason the Braves won the World Series or his Vanderbilt teams were great. He’s a solid producer but he isn’t worth 25 million especially when we have a guy like Grissom who is a pretty ok player who could mature like Dansby did.

Now that he’s a Cub let’s see how all this winner talk looks like come August. I have no problem with him taking the money, but he is now that athlete who chose money over winning and the crowd won’t be kind to him when he doesn’t produce at a 25 million clip. Meanwhile, the Braves will keep rolling because baseball is a pitchers game not a 20 HR shortstop game.

I’ve never said anything about making moves. I simply said the Braves will win more games this coming season than last season. If you want to know why heres my reasoning - they underperformed across the board. Dansby had a big year for his standards but cumulatively Acuna was a shell, Álbies missed major time, Olson was in a NL learning curve, and we got absolutely zero from left field and DH. Acuna and Álbies will have better years, if healthy. Olson is Olson. Riley is Riley. Harris is Harris. SS is iffy but Grissom showed life. There is no way our left field production is that bad again. Rosario and Ozuna both had their worst years. They may still stink but they won’t stink that bad. Then with Murphy/Travis we have a catcher and DH similar to what we had last year with the two catchers. Our bullpen is much improved and our starters are our strength and Anderson won’t be as bad and Soroka could be back.

Bottom line we won the division with a very flawed team that was saved by Wright, Strider, and Harris coming out of nowhere. And even if our hitters all have down years our pitching staff is the best in the NL and pitching is what wins regular seasons. Then the playoffs are simply who gets hot.

You don’t need a career year to be better than what we got out of LF and Acuna last year. But I guess you believe everything will be the same from year to year. That’s fine. We’ll all watch it play out. But I can confidently say that Acuna will put up better numbers and we’ll get more production from LF. But you keep waiting for us to trade for Ohtani or something to ease your mind. I’ll just sit back and watch us win the East as built.

Would have liked him to haves stayed. I am not shook about him leaving.

Not my question but I’ll answer anyway.
That 25 million can go towards a solid everyday LF and a strong DH.
D’Arnaud could be the catcher every 4th game and be the go to choice in pinch hitting situations.

Mark Bowman doesn’t know why so many people assume Grissom will be the starter. Well, Mark, maybe because there aren’t any other decent FA SSs left and they don’t have the farm for a trade.
AA may very well be able to pull a rabbit out of the hat but at this point it’s not some far fetched idea that Grissom will be the opening day shortstop.

Yeah I'm okay w/letting him walk for that.

It just sucks because we’re going to soon be going through this with Fried. In the past, we’ve at least been able to soften the blow of a big name leaving bu making a trade or calling someone up who would immediately produce.

We don’t have that luxury anymore and it’ll be interesting to see how that’s handled by the FO in years to come. It still doesn’t make sense that we exhausted our remaining assets for a position that we were already deep at and have yet to address any of our holes.
