be that as it may, it remains beyond ridiculous that MLB is outlawing strategy.
I'm simply not a fan of changing rules in order to fundamentally force the game to move in another direction. We've seen it happen in football and basketball as well, and I hate it.

IMO this is what people who don’t fully understand the game say.(that’s at this time. In the past it was a valid question) Now there is enough time to see that adjustment isn’t a reasonable ask. We would have seen players do it. Even if the stars would be averse to it, scores of fringe players would have made a name for themselves by making that adjustment.
I don’t think limiting the shift is a bad idea. Teams will still shift to where the third baseman is at shortstop and the shortstop is by the second base bag.

Reports that Cubs are showing interest in Dansby.
Wouldn't be a surprising over for him considering his wife plays on the Chicago NWSL team

What is Bryan Reynolds going to cost us?

With the deGrom and Verlander signings what do we do with Fried? No way will or should the Braves pay what he’s going to be getting paid as a FA. Gotta lock him up now or trade him. Can’t just let him walk away in 2 years for nothing.

With the money they have saved on the other deals they are really doing the team and the fans a disservice if they don't extend him, no matter what the cost is. You save money during an open window to spend it elsewhere. Are we going to be the bargain bin Braves, or are we going to put our dick down on the table for once?

1. Extend Fried
2. Find a SS
3. Find a LF/DH
4. Shore up the pen
Anything else AA needs to do?

Judging by the story on Washington working with Grissom at short I think theres your answer if we do whiff on Dansby.

I don't think either will happen. I think he plays out his contract, accepts a qualifying offer, and gets a massive payday from the Angels.
AA has not shown a willingness to give long term contracts to starters (Strider aside because he's so young) and I don't think he'll start now. I love Fried, but that kind of deal does carry a good bit of risk.

I'd much rather a trade in this situation. Letting him go for a comp pick would be crazy. And like you said, the chances of signing him as a FA is close to nil.

jesus would Trea Turner frick off already
ETA: if Dansby wants even HALF of what Turner got, I figure he’s good as gone.

Welcome to SS, Grissom.
Unless there's a trade brewing.

Turner just set the market....300M just wow....and he's back in our division

I did the math and Turner is at $27.2 AAV. I honestly thought it'd be higher.

Not feeling that one.
Teams in a championship window don't have Vaughn Grissom at SS.

I agree. But Turner just priced us out of the big 4 SS.
Either a trade for Adames or it's Grissom.

We'll see.
AA has said he won't mind going into the luxury tax if the situation is right. But he is also in record saying that he doesn't want to have an excuberent contract above 24-25 MIL AAV and wants an evenly spread payroll.

Imo there is absolutely no chance Grissom is our opening day SS.
If we don’t sign Dansby we will make a trade.

Then why is Wash working with him at SS?
The team seems to think there is at least a chance or they wouldn't bother.
