Long term, I agree. But if they don't have plans to move him into the rotation by the ASB, I'd just assume add him to the pen for the remainder of the season.

Tim Anderson has chosen to opt out of his contract w/the White Sox and become a FA.

I don't want that guy anywhere close to the clubhouse. He's a malignant cancer.

Heyman saying we will decline eddies option for next year tomorrow. Interesting

Is there a buyout? If not, then I’m all for declining the option, and looking for a cheaper alternative or upgrade.

Actually, it looks like the White Sox were the ones who made the decision

If the price was right he’d be an interesting bounce back, though I’d think his defensive decline might preclude if he can’t be the everyday shortstop.

Tim Anderson was the problem in Chicago when all of the retards in the media wanted to blame La Russa.

Tim Anderson was absolutely terrible last year and made a complete fool of himself in that fight with Jose Ramirez. He's also been a guy offensively that has relied almost entirely on maintaining a high batting average through a high BABIP, basically the complete opposite type of hitter the Braves tend to target. I don't see the fit.

No, thanks on Anderson.

Braves won’t pick up Hand.

Nola is a slightly above average pitcher who turns into Cy Young only when he pitches against the Braves.
Nola is significantly better than slightly above average. He's been well above average by fWAR every single full season he's been in the big leagues. He put up a 6.3 fWAR season just 2 years ago and 3.9 this past season. He has a career 3.73 ERA/3.38 FIP and he gets dinged in the ERA department by pitching his home games in a bandbox and having a shitty defense behind him.
He's also been a workhorse rarely getting injured. This counts for a ton in this day and age with pitchers dropping like flies. I would be interested in going after him, both to weaken the Phillies, and to have a potential replacement for Max if he decides to walk. Nola is also only a year older than Fried. Just depends on the $$$ and length of the contract.

Jackie is going to find out a lot of teams aren’t going to deal with his BS

This is actually pretty shocking considering he's a decent platoon option on a cheap deal.
But I guess at least we now won't have to hear Frenchy say "We know what Rosario can do at the plate, remember what he did against the Dodgers in the 2021 NLCS?" every time he comes up to bat.

I think Rosario this past season basically had two hot months, June and August if I'm not mistaken, but was otherwise abysmal at the plate. He's also very unpleasant to watch at the plate when he isn't hot, basically swinging at everything. I don't hate trying to find an upgrade, although you're right in that the money wasn't much for what he was providing.

Rosario OPS by month:
Mar/April: .688
May: .662
June: 1.115
July: .499
August: .942
September/Oct: .583
He's also atypical in what the Braves normally look for in hitters as he doesn't put up high exit velos or hit the ball particularly hard and he hits a ton of groundballs. I was surprised when AA decided to bring him back over Soler after '21, but I suppose defensive ability and the smaller contract commitment may have played some role there.

But for what we were paying him, especially in a position that is of the least importance, those aren't terrible numbers at all.
Unless we are entering this offseason looking to make Cody Bellinger a full-time LF with a big contract, we're not going to find many guys to put up a .755 OPS at Rosario's price point. Maybe you bring back Duvall, but I'm not sure he's that much of an improvement over Rosario.

I mostly agree, $9 mil isn't much in this era of baseball, and Eddie was basically league average at the plate overall. I doubt they're in on Bellinger as he was a pretty big wOBA/xwOBA overperformer and is probably due for some regression, but the other FA OF options aren't terribly appealing. I wonder if AA has a trade up his sleeve.

I think the Braves are looking to save money in left field and put it towards pitching.

If they were looking to save money, they would keep Rosario at $9m
