SIAP... searched and didn't find anything

ETA: link is behind a paywall so fair warning

but I think the title says it all really... no need to worry about the paywall

I think 8 is the sweet spot but I guess this is better than 4.

With 12 you’re going to have some 3, maybe 4 loss teams getting in. Not sure they will deserve it.

12 seems like a lot.

I always thought the next logical progression was 6. The champion of all Power 5 conferences plus one at Large.

I like 8 better, but I guess top 4 get a bye in the 12 team model. Home games for higher seeds until semifinals?

Expanding the playoffs will be the death knell of major college football. All notions of amateurism, most elements of tradition, and vast swaths of the pageantry surrounding rivalry games will be taken from us in the name of awarding a true champion.

Why are they over complicating this? 8 teams. There, done.

Doubt it. They'll probably take over more bowl games for the first rounds. Something like the Citrus Bowl, Outback Bowl, Texas Bowl, and Holiday Bowl.

12 is at the point where the Power 5 champs are pretty much guaranteed a bid, the Group Of 5 gets 1-2 bids, and everyone bitches that the SEC and Big Ten are taking the rest of the spots.

Yeah, 12 teams just seems awkward.

If they're going to expand, 8 teams is fine.

I think 6 would be good.

If I were a SEC team president or AD I would want a 12 team playoff.

The SEC would have 4-6 teams every year in the playoff.

That would be a lot of money to split with 14 teams.

They won't but at least it keep teams, players and fans into the season. In the past, even with the BCS, once you get 2-3 loses the season feels like a lost cause. In the NFL it's not that way and I feel like the product holds more value.

Because it's about $$$$$. NCAA saw how much the bowl system was collapsing in the CFP era. This is about money...plain and simple.

Let’s weaken the best regular season in all of sports to dilute our post season. It may make sense monetarily but it will come at the expense of the quality of the product.

Unless they make the payout massive (they probably will). Schools should be against expansion for the most part as...

Regular season will suffer big time

Theres times where a team may have had a loss they shouldn't have had, but with such few games played, they still may be one of the best teams.

I think the real sweet spot is play 14 games with 8 team playoff. Playing 2 extra games will give the committee or whoever a few more games to really judge a team properly.
