re: At this moment UFL has as much potential as CFB

Fans were loyal to college football not minor league football which is what people want college football to become
And yet, it still has way more pageantry than the UFL will ever hope to have.
This thread is hilarious.
UFL will be gone within the next 2-3 years.

Star CFB players are going to the NFL
UFL players did not make it
I've been regularly attending/watching D-II football games since 1996 knowing that very few of the players are going to the NFL.
What percentage of FBS football players actually make NFL rosters?

but the potential is there for UFL to gain some momentum.
In what possible way?
Spring pro leagues have a horrible track record and there's nothing to indicate that the UFL will change that.

Football fans of the game below the NFL level just haven't realized it yet.
Whose fault is that?

If the trajectory for CFB continues and NIL doesn't get reformed and improved, UFL will be on par in 3-4 years
I am not certain the UFL will exist in 2026 and even less certain it will in 2027 much less in 3 or 4 years.

I get your argument but it will never overtake CFB because people have a tie-in to their schools as fans and will never let that go.
But part of the charm was rooting for "kids out on the field who sit next to me in class and apart from being very athletic, are essentially like me and my friends".
That changes when you have them earning 4 million and leaving a place like UTenn like a "free agent".
I am seeing more and more casual fans, the type that make most but not all games, the type that sometimes do and sometimes don't go to bowl games, the kind for who having a good tailgate is just as important as having a good game...more and more of those kinds of fans look at these one million dollar deals for 18 year olds who aren't that good and say "I am a lawyer and I don't make that kind of money" and "I am feeling less and less of a connection to my team, I never thought this would happen".
The superfans who have Geaux Tigers literally tatooed on their forearm, sure they won't change, but there are more casual fans out there just enjoying the "happening" of a game than reading media guides and figuring out which SEC team has the best OL coach.

I don’t know anyone who viewed college athletics this way.
I also don’t know anyone who has decided not to go tailgate and enjoy the stuff surrounding a game day because they are getting paid.

Until these people actually disconnect their eyes from a TV and their arse from a stadium seat no one will care.

Travel outside the southeastern USA in fall over a weekend, and it's all but impossible to get game scores for CF Saturday evening news.

One has a nationwide reach and the other is 8 teams in 8 cities marketing toward degenerate gamblers

Because the G League is crushing NCAAMB in TV numbers, huh?

NCAAMB is going to look way more like the G League in 5 years than college basketball.

Spoken like someone who hasn't watched either.
The products of both are terrible, but college basketball will always have the pageantry
