You could see that happening before it happened with Gomes setting up like that. Just pitch Altuve away like that on first pitch and it’s a a near-automatic GIDP.

He will never be Bregman but you wish he would take pitches like that that are clearly directed at exposing his weaknesses and his propensity to pull sharp ground balls w/ a runner on first.

That frickup was pretty huge because it allowed Ross to settle in with adrenaline running and keep his pitch count in check. Just go up there smarter IMO.
