The kid stays 3 or 4 years and graduates or goes pro?

Every kid that currently plays college ball went to HS, so the answer is no

Who really knows.

I want to speak about Hurley for a second.

He’s from Florida. Was a highly rated player.

Graduated early so he could come to LSU.

Barring any negative consequences of the accident, I believe he was an LSU lifer.

I think he’s a bit different. Something about him said, get me to college. He seems to like college. He seems to like LSU.

There’s always going to be a Domanick Davis. Guys that wait their turn.

Eta. I have zero links to support any of that.

No. The great majority of kids stick around at their schools. As with everything, we only highlight the few that generate narratives or discussion. Media 101. Find the story. If there isn't one, make one up or frame one to fit the talking point.

I think the HS will continue to be recruited but they will just have agents earlier than in the past. Kids these days know marketing, per say, so they USE SCHOOLS to get better deals elsewhere. That's really what "COMMITTED" means to HS kids.

I can see HCs getting burned out because you either work yourself to a heart attack or you grow your support staff. Some handle HS, some handle your current players that may leave and of course you have the portal market.

I believe the OP was asking if the days are gone where a coach recruits a player and the player then stays with that school his entire college career. And the answer is it may very well be.

Yes and it took Kelly one year to realize that.

The MILLISECOND Hurley sees his potential path to start as QB at LSU evaporate, he will leave.

I'm positive this guy has NFL aspirations. In order to get there, he has to play. SOMEWHERE.

I have no doubt he wants that opportunity to be at LSU. But you gotta be real about this.

It can still happen at FCS and smaller D1 schools. I bet it happens a fair amount with the roster fillers at the big schools.

Edit: I missed the go pro part. Maybe not as anyone with a chance to go pro is going to have money thrown at them.

Ohio State has 4 transfers for the playoff run starting, everyone else is a recruit.

The model is recruit hard and backfill with transfers as needed.
