Big fish in a small pond, now he’s just a regular fish….

His old man should’ve put him at one of the Catholic league schools….

In the 2022 state semifinals game, Newman played at Lafayette Christian Academy and got destroyed 49-7.

Manning was 7-of-16 for 47 yards and an interception, … he looked horrible. He wasn’t even the 1st team district quarterback, but somehow was the top QB recruit in the country,

He never attended the premier quarterback camps like the Nike Elite 11 because he would have been exposed

but what level of competition did he face at Newman?

The same level if not better than what Peyton and Eli faced.

No, peyton and eli didn't have split playoffs.

Newman deserves some credit here , they went out of their way to schedule well regarded out of state programs or 5a teams like Hahnville to make up for their weaker division. They were trying to get their guys tested for the playoffs.

It’s also worth noting they got the brakes beaten off by u high , many, Lafayette Christian etc. I think Nelson Stewart was an excellent coach but Newman’s talent was badly overrated.

He has immense talent and lots of athletic ability and to suggest otherwise is dumb.

He is very talented, yes. Immense, maybe. He is certainly athletic, though.

LSU’s current backup freaking RB embarrassed him in high school.

When Newman played LCA in the regular season in 2021, he looked pedestrian at best, but bad is probably the proper assessment. They lost 49-7. I think they pulled Arch after the first half. He was 7/16 for 52 yards and 1 int. He did rush for the lone TD, a 5-yard run.

Newman pulled in multiple recruits for Arch, he had college level weapons around him, including a four-star recruit who ended up getting booted after stealing from the Mannings.

We need to let him develop before we make any conclusions either way.

So we shouldn’t appoint people as football Jesus based on their uncles?

A friend of mine went to one of his games to get film for a story. When I asked about Arch and his talent he said that while he (my friend) isn't a qb guru it looked as if he was a man amongst boys because of the other teams lack of talent/size.

I saw both Arch and Ricky Collins play LCA(also a 2A school at the time) in person. Collins looked better vs LCA than Arch did. Collins was behind a worse O-line. Arch did look better delivering the ball (throwing motion, etc.), though Collins was not bad looking. LCA's defense was just too much for either of them.

Yeah while by no means was he saying that Arch was going to be a bust or a superstar in college he did question how he would do against better....ummmm bigger competition. I don't remember the team Arch was playing but my friend said that they were all a foot shorter than the Newman team.

I don't get the high school thing. He's been at Texas for over 2 years, he's competing against college kids at practice.

And never beat out the 7th round draft pick ahead of him.

I remember watching Eli play basketball in HS at the Cajundome and thinking there’s no way he’d ever be athletic enough to play D1 football like Peyton.

Peyton, Eil and Odell Beckham, Jr. all played at the same HS (at different times). The competition level was virtually the same as when they played there. They all turned out just fine.

I'm not saying Arch will be a HOFer, but it was his first start, on the road, against a top 3 opponent. The hype was the product of the media because of the pedigree. That's not really Arch's fault, but he has to live up to it. I wouldn't close the book on him just yet.

actually peyton and eli had about the same talent but played 1a and Arch played 2A
