Went several times as a kid. The stadium is still there on Lakeland.

Yes, we're the Astros AA team that took the place of the Jackson Mets who moved to Binghamton, NY after the 90 season. They played at Smith-Wills Stadium on Lakeland Drive. I went to a few games over the years. Got some old game programs. Bobby Abreu and Billy Wagner were probably the best players I saw there.

No telling how many games my dad took me to at Smith -Wills. And just as my son is old enough to understand baseball, the Braves move out of Pearl….

I wonder why their attendance is so low? Seems to be a fun park located next to all those casinos
Yeah but to go to a game you have to leave the casino

Southern and State hold games down there pretty regularly and they’re packed. AA baseball just isn’t much of a pull for visitors and I imagine it’s tough for the locals (which are a weird bunch as it is) to get too hyped for a Brewers affiliate

I moved out of Jackson in 95 and then everyone started the migration out to Madison seemingly in 96 or so IIRC. Had a great time growing up in Jackson. Sad what's become of it, what a shithole it is now a days. Jitney Jungle FTW

Owned literally or figuratively? I read it as the latter; never heard of any common ownership between the teams.

Interesting. So you’re saying if it were another team affiliate and not the Brewers it might be different?

Beaumont had the Gators in the Texas league too

All the big Padres of the 80’s/90’s passed through Beaumont- John Kruk, Benito Santiago, Sandy Alomar, etc
