Anyone here prefer the virtual NFL draft over the usual style drafts?

I thought it was fantastic seeing the GMs and coaches at home with their families. The players as well. It brought a more human element to everything.

Goodell shite housed in his basement actually made him a person to me for the first time ever.

I wouldn’t mind if they rolled this way from now on.

I know they won’t but I thought the presentation was better than anything they have ever done.

I think it was so successful for two reasons. First, we’re so deprived of sports we would be ecstatic about anything. Secondly, at least on some level it tapped into fantasy drafts that almost everyone has been a part of at some point. I’d be fine if this was how they did it from now on, but they won’t due to money.

If they solely focused on the draft, yes... All the other BS can go. I don't need to hear someone sing while 6 people get picked only to see it on the tracker. I don't need to know who is dealing with death, a crackhead mother, etc....

If you want to tell me about the kid and some info on his life, let him speak not Wingo.

This was honestly the best draft in a while.

I’m not totally sure if it’s just because we’re sports deprived, or if its because of the dual network coverage, or what.

It will go back to normal but since it’s getting rave reviews they’ll misinterpret why they are getting the rave reviews and just keep the dead dad stuff in there

In Vegas, the players were going to ride in a freaking boat in a fountain to get to the stage. It was going to be a circus.

Yeah, some had some huge obstacles in life to get over so I understood focusing on those. But it felt like they wanted a sob story with each one. So and so’s mom overcame a stubbed toe when he was in the womb.

So desperate to fill the air with as little football talk as possible

A great one was when Jacob Eason got draft wingo said

“That name might sound familiar! You probably remember Tony Eason, from the infamous 1983 QB draft right? Well he’s actually NOT related to him.”

Like wtf

It was really unique and cool, much better than I was anticipating. For the players, they’ve dreamed of the moment for their whole lives so I wouldn’t want to take away the opportunity for them to get some spotlight and walk across the stage long term.

One thing that would be cool in the future is to work in elements of it for those players, coaches, staff, etc. that can’t or don’t want to be there in person for whatever reason. Best of both worlds

Seeing the houses was cool (and some of the funny things that came with it, e.g., Vrabel, Belichick’s dog, Lamb’s phone). But the atmosphere was definitely hurt. It’s not the same when you don’t hear audible reactions/cheers/groans to a pick from fans, and I missed seeing the players get to go on stage.

This was not as bad as I thought it would be, but the regular way seems better.

because they didnt bring out some washed up guy who used to play for the team 20 years ago to give a 15 minute speech about a bunch of BS before they announced the pick

they did try hard to fill it full of unnecessary BS and distractions along with fund raising for people who make more money then most of us and none of them lost a job or paycheck but hey they gonna now have $100 million to split up and go buy a bunch of new houses and cars with that money

It’s getting rave reviews across the board.

Hopefully they implement some of the home cams next year.

I want Roger in his basement permanently though

I like humanizing the otherwise robotic coaches. Bill Belichick has a cute puppy? These guys with their kids having fun. It’s fun to see.

No. Keep it how it has been. We are just desperate for sports and i watch day 3 coverage where i would be watching NBA and MLB or at the horse races. NFL did a great job though. I enjoyed it with nothing else to watch.

Did NFL network have more football related talk for the various picks? Or is there a good simulcast listen on Sirius or something?
