Very ready. This’ll be our last year attending the games. It’s the most wholesome thing I’ve ever witnessed.

No wonder your kid was a soccer kid first

IMO you can’t be good at football without players and coaches that curse a little bit… just a little bit though

I enjoy watching high school ball. It’s fun to see teams with obvious size/skill advantages run weird offenses/defenses, and you see potentially some of the next greats for the college/pros early on.

I’ve never understood why the age of the players matters for fan support being weird.

If anything I thinks it’s more bizarre to cheer on grown arse men playing children’s games for a living, but I do it anyways.

Agree, GO Byrd Yellow Jackets!!!!!

Well I’m not on the damn sidelines with them.

I’m talking about the pregame prayer over the old-arse horn PA system, Star-Spangled Banner played by some shaky horn player, all the parents and grand parents of cheerleaders, band, and players, the quirky dress ups of the student section, the moms working the concession stand, the dads on our side making food for their band and players…traveling to the little Mississippi towns…

My son’ll go on to play in the SEC…but him representing his (7-12th) school in a football uniform for the last time means the world to him.

Like 100% of scholarship kickers since they started kicking it correctly.

Nice. I don’t recognize those names. I graduated in 04. Tensas was decent in everything in my day except baseball.

I truly believe the high school down the street is going to win state this year.

I know they dominated the non select division, I think this will be their 1st select title is coming to Algiers.

Been in Baton Rouge (couple more places too) the last 25 years... I still try to make at least two of my alma mater games a year(Carroll High School)... always excited for HS football... I work with guys who attended every high school in BR except Catholic, University, hell all the private schools... so I attend one game with them a year usually homecomings

I’ve gotten way more into it since all the games are streamed. It’s exciting and I don’t have to deal with the leaked in high school crew.

Yes, Will go to at least one Ruston, one Neville and one Union Parish game. Might get over to Shreveport for a game too..

Ruston Hosts Acadiana on 9/06.
Union hosts ASH on 9/13.
Neville hosts St. Thomas More on 9/27.

Ruston travels to Longview on 9/20. Might go there. Haven't been to Longview since I sat on the grass behind the end zone when they beat Allen in around 2009. That was when former NLU 1AA National Championship coach Pat Collins was still the Longview AD.

Loved to listen to the MS Friday night lights call in show where everyone called in and said their scores and gave a quick recap

Weekly characters like from Finebaum would call in and it was always fun

And then would check the box scores Saturday morning in the sports section of the clarion ledger to see who else won

Man… those were the days.
