Anyone else feel bad for Larry Nassar's family?

I don't feel bad for Larry, obviously.
But he had a wife and 3 children, all under the age of 18. I assume they lived a very cushy life, and were used to their father being a highly respected professional.
Their world was turned upside down and they lost a father/husband. As easy as it is to call him a monster, that will always be the father to those children. As a kid, I can't imagine that 180, from growing up with a respected father to losing him to life and finding out that he was one of the worst people to walk the Earth. I'm sure it's hard for those around them to give them sympathy also. It's not like family friends can say "I'm so sorry for what happened to your father."
I really do feel for his family.

Absolutely. Horrible for the kids. I'd change the last name if I was them

I'm sure they're crushed. Can't imagine a bombshell being dropped on you like that.

I count his wife and his kids as his victims. He wove a lie around them to conceal what he was.

I can't imagine what they are feeling right now. All of this time, you are probably thinking how great of a guy your dad is. He's working with the US Olympic team and the athletic department at a major, Big Ten university.
You live (I'm assuming) a comfortable, sheltered life. And in the bat of an eye, this comes out. Your "swell" dad, turns out to actually be a demonic monster who has inflicted so much pain on hundreds of girls. In a split second, the man you loved and looked up to is now someone you never want to see or talk to again. Crazy how life works, huh?
I'd definitely be dragging her to the court house to take on her last name. Much like Sandusky, I'd do any and everything to rid myself from anything associated with Larry Nassar and the Nassar last name.

You're getting downvoted.......but you make a great point. What is the difference? None. Good call out.

Dude had a problem. One that he will pay dearly for. That family was living the life, American dream. They were set for life financially sand never needed for anything. Than all of a sudden BAM!!! Hope he rots in hell, but I do feel bad for his wife and kids

For the family it's almost going to be like joining the Federal Witness Protection Program. To have any chance of a normal life they are going to have to change their names, her job, the school her kids go to, will probably have to move to a different state, and pretty much say goodbye to all but the most sympathetic (to the family, not him) friends and that's before dealing with the financial ramifications.

I feel sorry for sports announcer Gerry Sandusky.
Talk about bad luck.
Talk about bad luck.

They still have their mom. I was reading about the kids of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, the husband and wife executed for espionage. Two kids 10 & 13 at time of execution. How about knowing your folks are going to die that day?

I absolutely feel bad for them, you do not outlive this, and you know your father was an awful human.

And that means I can't feel sorry for them, same as I/most feel for the ones he abused?
This isn't to downplay the effects of the abuse his victims went through, but they at least got some closure with this. They have support groups they can attend and plenty of national support backing them. It doesn't make it any better, but they have some outlets for the psychological and physical torment they have suffered.
His family doesn't have that. There is no closure for finding out the man you've looked up to and loved your entire life is a monster. The unique nature of their pain, makes it a difficult situation to be reached out to for sympathy. There is at least some empowerment that his abused victims could get by being brave and facing him in the court room to tell him what they've done to him. Unfortunately, his family doesn't have any of that. Their entire family name is being associated with some of the biggest scum to ever walk the Earth, all through no doing of their own, after being a well respected family for their entire existence.
That is really sad and a lot to deal with, especially for teenagers.

Are we 100% certain he didn't molest his children?
Hell, maybe they're glad he's gone.
