Also, Phil has an issue with the PGA Tour throwing out a lot of Fed Ex points and such for tournaments in October and November. Most of the stars that have been playing in majors and Ryder/Walker Cups are taking a break. Back in the day there were no tour events that time of the year and the players had an off season. But now, the “2022 season” actually starts in October or 2021.

Not for long. They are ending the wrap-around season soon. Maybe because of the players bitching.

. Although it sounds harsh at first listen, if you think about it, casual golf fans aren’t tuning in on Sunday to watch Juaquin Nieman duel Cameron Young. If Brooks Koepka is battling Justin Thomas for the win, more people will watch.

i would love to watch stars battle it out every week but golf is a meritocracy. The game is absolutely loaded with talent now too so it just isn't going to happen all the time.

He is nice and jovial when he has a 1 minute encounter with someone, so the media runs with the PHil is so nice card and it sticks. And he buys into it. But with everyone that actually has to spend real time with him he is an a-hole. That’s exactly what “fake” is. Maybe it’s just me but it seems a man should be judged with how the people actually in their life think about them, and not some random person that says hey for 60 seconds

Breed made a great point on his show. Players before were terrified to ever speak about Phil because they knew he had the god guy image. Now that they have an opportunity, they have buried him. That shows a lot to me

My point - who cares?

If you're exceedingly pleasant to the large majority of people you interact with, I'm supposed to care because you're douchey to the people you compete with professionally and let it color my entire view of you?

I mean if the Saudi’s want to hand out the cash I’ll dust off the clubs and head over there.

This is not like Brees at all. Nobody is overly offended by what he said. He actively tried to damage the PGA tour by recruiting the best players to leave to play in a rival league. It's the old saying: if you come at the king, you better not miss. He missed, and now he has to try to do some damage control to salvage what reputation he has left. He isn't losing sponsors over woke principals. He is losing sponsors because he likely won't be able to wear a KPMG hat in PGA events this year because he won't be playing in them.

I'm not even necessarily saying what he did was wrong. I don't care where the best golfers are playing. I just want to watch them. What I'm saying is he lost his war, and now he will pay the price.

I'm pretty sure Norman is associated with this effort as well

Norman is the main architect of the Saudi league. He's the CEO of the company LIV Golf Investments, which is backed by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, and those are the entities putting this league together. That's why Rory made the sarcastic comment last week that Greg will have to tee it up himself in this new league because there's no name recognition left.

If the posters are right and the PGA only pays out about 25% to the players without owners, that’s a shite ton of money being filtered through a ton of executives.

Read an article yesterday, and that number is actually 55%. Phil is exaggerating for effect.

Why a scandal? He told the truth.
The Saudis do abuse human rights. Okay, he would do business with them anyway.
How is that any different than the thousands of businesses that do business with the Saudis?
Not that it's right, but it is reality.

Let me make sure I understand your post. Are you saying that 55% of the Tour players on playing on sponsors money and thus as a result, a percentage of said money.

I’m still trying to figure out why KPMG dropped him? I mean KPMG has offices in Saudi Arabia and China. Are they worried that he offended the SAs?

There's also an incredibly loud internal group of employees that bitch about how much they pay Phil. I'm not even Big 4, but hear it all the time.

I think he’s saying that the PGA only gives out 55% of the total money they bring in back to the players.

I do hear that the PGA of America has hundreds of millions of dollars just sitting in a bank collecting interest.

I don’t care about this fake news story that will disappear in a week or two. But I want to know what was happening internally for them to cut ties with him. They were obviously looking for an excuse.

I dont understand the pushback on Phil if Im being honest.

What Mickelson is upset about is the rights to digital images. NFT type crap. Right now, the PGA Tour owns all images, including those of players winning Championships, etc.

Phil sees a future in NFTs and wants to own his own images so HE earns of them, rather than the tour.

He was simply using this other league as leverage in a negotiation to get ownership of his image.

The people that are mad dont know what the frick is even going on.

Phil doesn't owe shite to anyone, including the PGA Tour which has profited handsomely off Phil, even though they are considered "non-profit", which is bullshite.

In what leagues do the players own their NFTs/highlights? The organization that produced the events owns them. Phil didn't produce them.

I don't think any fans are actually mad at Phil. The PGA Tour is mad because Phil tried to decrease the value of their association while increasing the value of another league. Nobody followed Phil, and now he is facing the consequences of his failure.

Well, NFTs are fairly new.

It will absolutely be a sticking point in upcoming collective bargaining in every sport.

The PGA Tour is a nonprofit.

Phil had no intention if going over there. This was 100% a negotiating tactic for the NFT stuff. This other league was leverage. Nothing more.

You think Phil wants to hang out in the middle east? Id guess not.

Yes well I would think the broadcaster (CBS NBC, etc) would actually own those rights and take objection to Phil bringing his own camera crew out there with him.

No, he was actively involved in trying to injure the PGA and colluding with the SGL to promote their new league and make it successful. Try that at your job and let us know how it works out

You don’t exactly come across as
Knowing shite either.

Phil has made $94M directly from the PGA. I’d say he’s done fairly well and it’s been a good relationship. They operate as a non profit and their financials are available to the public.

Since you seem pretty fricking ignorant about all of this, why don’t you take Phil’s dick out of your
mouth so you can open your eyes and research a little more on this before you opine any further.
