Just noticed that they have a +30 run differential. It's pretty rare that a team has that wide of a positive differential and sit at 5 games under .500.

Are they getting unlucky or will they continue losing and the differential will begin reflecting?

Not a Reds fan but they have had a couple of blowout wins that are distorting that.

14-0 vs Marlins
12-1 vs Cards

That’s +25 right there

12 1 run losses

So if you take those 14 games, they are +13 and went 2-12.

All other games they are 16-11 and +17 which is pretty normal.

Just seems fluky, but I guess losing 12 out of 41 games by a run has an element of bad luck.

I was going to make this thread exactly. That’s a good differential for being in the bottom of the standings.

We’re really good at losing by 1 run.

I hardly watch enough baseball to even notice the Reds ever being good

there was a time recently when they had the fewest wins ever for a team that was +20 or something in run differential at a certain point in the season. i imagine that still rings true as they continue to lose one run games.

the pitching has honestly been really good for the most part. the lineup is not delivering on their potential. scooter hasn't played all year, which will help a lot.

i think the Reds are a year away from being in playoff contention, but if scooter comes back, votto turns it on, alex wood joins the rotation, and everything else pretty much keeps up, they could make a run.
