because he had a good first season and people thought he was the second coming and he was getting pursued heavy by Louisville so Purdue gave him the big contract to keep him.

For the same reason you had coaches who beat Saban one time get massive extensions afterward(Malzahn, Sumlin, Freeze)

I lived in Indiana for a short stint. I knew the Purdue quarterback Curtis Painter back in the day. My cousin and her husband both graduated from Purdue.

They aren't even Purdue fans to be honest.

Their WR's have given Iowa all kinds of trouble since Brohm has been their. Iowa definitely better come ready to play.

Went to Purdue for grad school. Been to a game or two. It's a glorified high school game, but honestly, it's a ton of fun because it just doesn't matter.

West Lafayette is an underrated college town. There's just no football talent in the state.

Here’s my CSB:

Purdue-Kansas State Alamo Bowl was the first major CFB game I attended. Great game. Stayed at the Purdue hotel, and 12 year old me was in the lobby with my mom when the Boilermakers were walking through from a team meal or something. I met a bunch of players, including Drew Brees. His grandfather was a coaching legend across the bridge from where I live.

I was at the game in W Lafayette where Kyle Orton lost the ball, the Heisman, and the game all in the same play.

A first down wouldn've ended it

And I was working in a merch trailer outside the stadium the game that Drew Brees passed 83 times and torched UW, but still lost. And the game Jump Around was born.

The Boilermakers outgained the Badgers, 570-229, and had 33 first downs to Wisconsin’s 14. But Purdue was done in by five turnovers in the seven-point loss, as Badger back Ron Dayne rushed 33 times for 127 yards and a TD. Wisconsin signal-caller Mike Samuel hit just 5-of-10 passes for 44 yards and was sacked five times.

Because they beat Ohio State 49-20 a few years ago.

I felt so bad for Orton after that play. That was a really, really good Purdue team that never recovered from that play. They basically played like lifeless corpses the rest of the season.

Malzahn (and paying for Cam) was the reason Auburn won the national championship in 2010 and they made the national championship game in his first season after Auburn went 3-9 the year before. You're going to give that guy a raise.
