This whole thing is ridiculous. It's always some white person being racist. I'm sick of hearing it. I know a lot of respectful, educated African Americans are getting sick of the "cry wolf" mentality too.
Jemel Hill is racist,
Stephen A. Smith is racist
everybody is fricking racist look in the mirror first before you start cause the right is starting to pull the race card alot lately just like the left

I find it interesting that they've turned on Whitlock because of this article...

Racism is all a big double standard. If you're white and you say something barely controversial (i.e. the Limbaugh McNabb comment which was not a big deal), you are branded a racist.
However, if you are black and say all kinds of loopy shite like Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, then you're not a racist, you're a fighter, a hero.
What a joke.

People on this board have straight up stated that they liked Whitlock because he wasn't like the "other Black sportswriters".
I happen to like Whitlock because he has his own opinion and is tied to no one.
Oh, and not everyone here turned on him for this article. Some turned on him because he had the audacity to point out that recent first rounders from LSU have been struggling in the NFL lately.

And just so you know, I am a Whitlock fan. This article disappointed me. The worse is Jean Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News. Believe me, he had a field day over this story.

I don't know any Black person who takes either of those two seriously, and the only times that their names are brought up, it's by white people...
In fact, I asked a shitload of my friends and family about those two recently, and almost to a person, they said that they don't speak for us.

I'm a Whitlock fan, but this article did NOT disappoint me. He said his mind, which is what he's paid to do.
Heck, this article probably surprised all of the people who call him an Uncle Tom.

a few things:
1) Rush uses sarcasm constantly in his show and just quoting him without any context is wrong
2) rush limbaugh is a political commentator, not a politician and not a journalist. so his opinion has no more weight than o'reilly or olbermann or any of the dozens of talking heads on tv or radio. he is just the most well known and successful
3) we are talking about potential ownership of a private business, what difference does it make what jason whitlock or anyone else for that matter think about it? If the other owners vote him in as an voter then he is in.
4) the Jay-Z comparison is ironic because it was a celebrated move for the NBA when he got involved. A guy that made a fortune with promoting music that glorifies misogyny, racism, violence, drugs, etc is a hero to the black community. Does anyone realize that you can't play the album cuts of Jay-Z's songs at NBA games because of how offensive and inappropriate they are?
5) if Howard Stern wanted to buy the Mets would anyone care? If they did care, why would they? what difference does it make who owns a sports team?
FYI the Rams were owned by georgia frontiere and she was a former stripper who married LA Rams owner Carroll Rosenbloom (her 6th husband) and inherited the team when he died (supposedly murdered over gambling debts). So is Rush Limbaugh owning a minority stake in a team that was owned by a former stripper for 29 years that big a deal?

Sophandros
P.S. I don't think he will get the bid, not only because of all the outrage, but also the odds are agaisnt him. I read a while back that 90% or so of people who bid for NFL franchises are rejected.

funny because rush limbaugh and rev pat robertson don't speak for me either
and I am disappointed by whitlock's column because it seems ignorant and poorly crafted, not because he took a stand I don't agree with

Bingo. That's where I was going with what I said.

FYI, Rush never made the comment about James Earl Ray. It's completely fabricated. The quote was attributed to him saying it back in 1998, yet there was no mention of it, anywhere, before 2005. And the source that got the ball rolling....wikipedia. After that stupid, irresponsible 'journalists' have run with the quote and even cited wikipedia as their source.
But I guess since it was found on the internet it has to be true right?

Well, as I wrote in the original post, I am of the opinion that for Whitlock to excuse Jay Z yet not Rush, it all boils down to the fact that Jay Z is black and Rush is white, so in Whitlock's head, he will make up whatever reasons he needs to to excuse Jay Z.
He doesn't excuse Jay-Z. He says in the article that Jay-Z has "has a library of rap tunes spewing the same kind of black-degrading lyrics, phrases and stereotypes that have made Limbaugh rich enough to buy a chunk of the St. Louis Rams." As he says in the article, it boils down to the fact that there will not be an uproar in the nba, whereas there will be in the nfl.
