Laughable you think barbe or west Monroe are scared of anyone in baseball

The baseball vote was 38-23 against reuniting.

All 12 select schools in 5A voted to get back together. It would have taken 19 non-select schools to pass the proposal. Only 11 of those public schools voted to support unification.

Those who voted to get back together included Acadiana, Alexandria, Captain Shreve, East St. John, Northshore, Pineville, Sam Houston, Slidell, Southside, West Jefferson, Woodlawn (BR) and Zachary.

All others voted against the proposal, including perennial 5A power and state champion Barbe.

All the schools listed but 2-3 are already select. Of course they want it back together. WM came to Catholic for a 3 game series to start the year. There is no fear there. The HC and pitching coach are former college HCs.

anyone here have any information on Warren Easton? Not looking for specific scouting reports or anything like that, just any general information on what type of team they have, what to look for, etc... I am not familiar. Also, anyone know where they will play their "host"/home playoff games? TIA

My guess is the games will be played at Kirsch-Rooney or MLB (Wesley Barrow).

i dont care what the vote is, that isnt the coaches voting. trust me the coaches at both schools are not scared.

would they lose this year...prolly. but barbe won 4 of 5 before the split and from 2000-2016 won 8 of 17. catholic and jesuit combined won 6 of the other 9

i think barbe will be ok. WM has built a program that isnt scared of anyone. same with sam houston.

Haven’t looked here in a while but starting to follow with playoffs starting soon

How did Barbe injuries play out? And I’m guessing the expelled kid isn’t playing and didn't win his appeal?

5a looks wide open.

The ire from the public schools reached a tipping point in 2012 when four out of the five football state championships were won by private schools.

The next season, the LHSAA general assembly voted to split the playoffs in the sport of football between select and non-select schools.

Now, a total of nine state championships are awarded in football with five on the non-select side and four on the select side.

The non-select schools felt a disadvantage because of the pool of students that select schools can draw from.

They believe they are losing state championships because of it.

They voted to split in order to give themselves an easier path to winning championships against schools they view as similarly disadvantaged.

To the point they continue to redefine “select” to narrow the pool of schools they have to compete with for championships.

How does having former college coaches change that interpretation?

so catcher is back, the pitcher Alexander is out, and then Bellard got hurt, the ull commit.

but overall healthier than they were and have been playing really good ball

i mean they lost to flower mound, concordia, img, sam houston and south beau....flower mound and img are top 10 nationally, concordia was 2-1....we know how good SH is and that was before their injuries and then south beau has a really good pitcher and is the best smaller school in the state.

only lost 2 games since march 1st and have won 23 of 25 and like 14 or 15 in a row. havent lost in over a month.

WM, Barbe, SH certainly have the upper hand to get to sulphur but some of these teams are going to have 1 really good arm barbe will have to contend with and barbe really only has 2 stud pitchers and one is a freshman.

Then why does WM continue to not vote for reunification in both football and baseball?

Umm, you realize they had the option to vote for unification in baseball only and also didn’t vote for that….So no, that isn’t because of football my friend

again the principal isnt gonna vote for any unification

but dont confuse the principal for the barbe coaches being scared. hell they won more when it was unified because more competition had teams playing more games and forced teams to have more depth which barbe has tons of

I do not know if they are “scared”, but I think it’s ridiculous to pretend they don’t have input when voting for baseball reunification only

New principal and new HC. I wouldn’t be surprised if that vote changes. Just a whole new regime really.
