Exactly. I don't know why people say no way in hell.
Even in his down year in ATL he still smashed 26 bombs and drove in 90+..
he has what 430 bombs?
he's still only 35 and is finding his bat again. people bash him because he has those 2 really awful seasons but my gosh. he only needs what 20 bombs to 450ish and 70 to 500.
lets go andruw. my fav brave ever. lets just see how his numbers look in the end. heck he catches back on he can always DH towards the back end of career as well.
he was an asbolute joy to watch for an entire decade manning centerfield.

I understand what u are saying but we are talking about the HOF here.
I would say no, he is never seriously considered. Just my opinion.

uhhh when you're considered the best defensive center fielder for about a 10 year stretch, I'd say that gets you in the hall.
yea he's a .250 hitter who strikes out a lot, but he should get in on his defensive play alone. Add almost 500 HR's when it's all said and done, and you have an easy HOFer

Chipper can't even hold Andruw's jock

I'll say yes because of the defense and power. Only 5 all star appearances and only 1 top 5 MVP finish makes it really hard to say yes though.

The steriod era killed our perception of him. I wish there was a way to say who was on steriods and who wasn't. I'm not niave enough to think he wasn't. I was a huge fan of his in ATL. If he gets to 500, I'd vote him in on the backing of his D.

I think it was the cheeseburgers, not steroids.

500 hrs during the "Steroid Era"...
Like it or not, that's going to count against him.

and I guess defense matters none to anyone in here?
Gold gloves aside, the metrics support that he's probably the 2nd or 3rd best defensive center fielder of ALL TIME. BUT ZOMG he's FAT!!!! :omg:

For comparison this player's (both played their first full MLB season in 1997) career stats:
Batting average .285
Home runs 400
Hits 1,856
RBI 1,323
Who is this player???

I hear you but if he has a decades worth of gold gloves and some how gets to the 500 club I think he gets in on those numbers. Power and Range. Not first ballot by any means.. but eventually.
He is one of the greatest defensive players of all time with home runs. His RBI's have to rank way up there as well. Like I said even in his down years in ATL he still put up the RBI's.
I don't believe he will get to 500, but if he does there's only 25 other players.. ever.. steroid era or not.. and unlike McGuire and Bonds he isn't nearly as directly linked.
If he hits another 10 this season he will only need to average 15 over 4 more seasons.
