Dude had the best radar I have ever seen in an outfielder. He must have had bat DNA in his blood because he tracked balls like he had sonar. He literally went straight towards the ball off the crack of the bat. The crazy thing is he was kind of lazy and still made it look easy.

The thing is that he wasn't lazy in the field. He was lazy running to first base. He used to drive me nuts when, even with the bases loaded where beating out a double play meant a run, he'd often just jog down the line. It was as if he didn't care unless he could get a base hit out of it.

20 years later, that type of attitude is popping up everywhere, and so people are starting to forget about the lazy part of Andruw's game, when a lot of today's best players can't even be bothered to try on defense (looking at you, Soto). I believe that has something to do with why he's finally getting into the HOF. I think, based on numbers and his all-time great defense, he should have been in years ago, but I got the sense that writers were punishing him for his inconsistent effort.

Football and basketball players jump out when you see them live. Baseball players not as much.

I saw a few braves games in person where Andruw Jones just dominated defensively. His ability to come in on the ball and take away base hits while still covering anything over his head was really incredible.

Very deserving induction for a potential best ever defensive player at a premium defensive position.

Andruw has a resting smile. It is just the way his face is shaped. A lot of times people thought he was smiling and making light of things and he wasn't, it was just his resting face.
