As a kid, I enjoyed my 2x-3x per week fix of watching highlights of Andruw dominant CF on Baseball Tonight.

Me too, especially in person. He played a shallow centerfield because he had such incredible instincts and was able to retreat incredibly well on deep balls. Andruw was a glider, he never looked like he was running hard even when making incredible catches in the outfield, so I think he had a bad rap when it came to running the bases.

I just wanted him to hustle on the bases, once in a while.
The thing that aggravated me was the amount of times he would miss straight down the middle fastballs. And a lot of the times he would come out of his shoes trying to hit it.

It’s a travesty it took this long. He should have been about a 3rd ballot guy.

Even my somewhat racist grandpa couldn’t help but respect the guy. He was always watching Braves games when we visited him and he talked about how good he was. I don’t remember much my grandpa said but that sticks out.

I feel like I enjoyed this one and was more excited for this one that all the other Braves who have gotten in over the last 10 years. I expected it for the rest of them, but I really thought the sports writers were too dense to ever really appreciate Andruw for what he was and what he did.
So happy for him yesterday.
It's amazing, I tell my kids and I'll tell their kids, when I went down to the ball park for a Braves game, it was HOFer here, HOFer there, another HOFer, and another HOFer, and a HOFer coaching. Amazing what we got to see.
My sons are fortunate in that they got to at least watch one HOFer playing and also got to celebrate a WS, so that is cool.

Many think he's the greatest defensive center fielder of all time. Too many folks I have not seen play for me to say, but a lot of folks who've studied it and who I respect have said so.
Anyone who the best all time at one important phase of the game should be a Hall of Famer. But I was surprised at how good his hitting stats were as well.

He made hard catches look easy
No one had a better eye when the bat left the ball
Also I’m still heartbroken about 96

Ridiculous that it took so long. Watching the Jones boys + the big 3 on the mound was a great way to spend a childhood.
