the company is paying around $1 billion annually for the TNF broadcasts.

So they paid $1 billion to broadcast 15 games? That comes out to almost $67 million per game

Amazon seems to have cornered the market on spending $1B and getting massive shite ratings.

I guess when you have 200+ million subscribers worldwide at $15/month ($3 billion/month revenue), you can afford to have some bombs.

Thursday Night Football has a stigma attached to it now. It may never recover after Broncos-Colts.

Also had the Tua injury…

I just have no interest buying another subscription when I can watch whatever college game ESPN has for the same entertainment value.

do you not have amazon prime just for the prime shopping aspect of it? Hell, I've had that since grad school just for the better prices and free shipping for text books. And that was long before they got into streaming television services

People haven’t been tuning in because not very many people over the age of 35 know how to find it or don’t know how to get/don’t have Amazon TV

There are more than 3x as many US prime subscribers than there are NFLN subscribers. The games being awful probably has more to do with it when you look viewership for the Chiefs/Chargers, which was great.

Because the games have been historically bad. I've been watching them for amusement alone.

I would change the TV channel to catch the game as I went about my evening.

But I’m not going to fire up the Amazon app to see it.

My level of care is low.

I think a lot of it is people don’t think to get on Amazon to watch it.

I prefer to be able to casually watch it and flip back and forth. It’s a pain to switch from Amazon prime streaming and go to cable to watch the southern miss game

Athletes are playing too many games and bodies are breaking down earlier as is, those short weeks lead to terrible game plans with missing players on both teams.

Yea if you’re gonna schedule Thursday games it should be between teams that had a bye the previous Sunday

For as long as I can remember, the NFL has always played Saturday games in Week 16 and 17. How long before we get NFL games every Friday or Saturday night? A long time ago, the NFL would shift some Sunday night games to Thursday night. Once the MLB playoffs were over, the games went back to Sunday night.

I suggested going to a 18 week season when the CBA was up. Leave the season at 16 games. Each team gets 2 byes. Just like it was in 1993 for one season. Everyone wins. There's nothing wrong with that model.

Nope. I don't use Amazon that often. Am I missing something?

The NFL is rigged. Fix that, and you fix the viewership problem.

Is everything rigged or just the NFL? And how do you know this?

I never understood the 17 games thing. In theory, you could keep 16 games but each team gets 2 byes in each half of the season and stretch the season 17 weeks. Still would get all of the primetime games.

17 games proves NFL are run by hypocrites and don’t care at all about player safety

One word: Money.

frickers, nobody wanted the 17 game season except for the people who stand to make the most money from it, the owners.

Seems like Amazon got in a bidding war for the games

Kind of like Fox 25 years ago or so, when they outbid CBS to take the NFC..that is what started the insane prices that keep happening today.
