Amazon is reportedly experiencing a noticeable drop in ratings for their “Thursday Night Football” program. This is Amazon Prime Video’s first year of broadcasting the TNF package, taking over for the FOX network that ran it from 2018 to 2021. Amazon’s first broadcast, a Week 2 game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers, did very well in terms of viewership.

But the drop in viewership should be concerning to Amazon Prime Video officials, considering that the company is paying around $1 billion annually for the TNF broadcasts.

Not Amazons fault. 75% of TNF matchups have been arse

Coaches and players don’t even really want to play these games.
Athletes are playing too many games and bodies are breaking down earlier as is, those short weeks lead to terrible game plans with missing players on both teams.
Yawn

Amazon seems to have cornered the market on spending $1B and getting massive shite ratings.
They did the same with the disaster that is Rings of Power.

But how are Amazon prime subscribers?

I love football. A lot. Even the NFL.
I’m football’d out on Thursday night. I’m in the zone of finishing my work week so I can enjoy football on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
No idea if that’s how others feel, but I assume I’m not alone. Thursday night football will never take off like they want it to.

And that's why I thought it was a mistake expanding the season to 17 games. And extra game is more wear and tear. 16 was the perfect number. And no one likes the fewer number of days to prepare for the opponent. I just have no interest buying another subscription when I can watch whatever college game ESPN has for the same entertainment value.

It's been Denver vs someone
Denver sucks.
Denver sucks.

Maybe if wasn’t constant dogshit matchups people would watch

Tbh I prefer the random MAC or Sunbelt game that'll be on rather than TNF.

Big East & ACC games on Thursday was better than these NFL games

You don’t know that before the game starts
People haven’t been tuning in because not very many people over the age of 35 know how to find it or don’t know how to get/don’t have Amazon TV

And especially not many are doing that for random games involving teams outside their home market
All I needed to see was the Saints broadcast to know it sucks. Al Michaels needs to retire

I already had prime and I still find myself watching the college games over the dogshit NFL games available.

There are more Prime subscribers in the US than cable subscribers
By a significant number

The NFL is rigged. Fix that, and you fix the viewership problem.
Posted on 10/26/22 at 8:44 pm to TulaneFan
Aside from the Saints game, I haven’t watched a single Thursday Amazon game, and wont the rest of the season.

Well that is never going to happen
That is their entire entertainment business model
Plus they are finally able to make a killing off degens the country over betting on not even an authentic sport product
A gold mine
