Iverson just said he didn't lift weights when he played because "that shite was too heavy."

Bubba Chuck didn't need to pratice or lift weights. He won four scoring titles on natural talent alone.

The way he played the game he didn't have to.

There a lot of research out there that says skills development matters much more than weight training in many sports.

Obviously if you have unlimited time and resources to train, strength training won't hurt. It might not just be the most effective use of time for many athletes.

He was supposedly one of the best QBs in Virginia HS football history, too. He was amazing to watch when he was healthy, and his 48 point game against the Lakers in the Finals is one of the best I've ever seen.

I'd argue it depends on a lot of different things like which sport are we talking about exactly, which position, what type of weight training, etc.

AI was one of the most consistently injured players in the league maniging to only play 75+ games a season twice after his first 2 years in the league and I would argue his career was ended early. He only managed 85 total games in his last two seasons at 33 and 34.

He had a small frame. Dude was 6 foot 175 soaking wet. It would have been difficult for him to be as smooth and keep everything the same if he was 6 foot 200.

You act like him playing 15 seasons is nothing. For a 6 foot guard who played in the NBA when it was actually somewhat physical is quite a feat. Some people just get injured. Anthony Davis is injured a lot for various reasons.

No one said he had to become a body builder, which was the entire point of my post. Steph Curry is out here dead lifting 400 pounds, you think that his smoothness has been hurt by lifting?

It largely is in comparison to today's NBA where we teams are devoting shite loads of money in to their strength/nutrition programs.

If he wasn't so lazy, maybe he could have lifted a ring.

I mean, he was rated as one of the best players of his generation. How much more highly could he have been rated?

Bench press isn't going to make you a better basketball player.

Coordination and balance are what's needed
