699 may have been a mistake pitch but 700 was all skill. Can't believe he was able to get his hands around on that. Look to be inside curve.

700 was a mistake as well. The best remedy for decreased bat speed in older sluggers is the hanging curve ball on the inner half.

i mistake? more like a perfectly served up pitch to make history. people act like pitchers would never intentionally give up a HR but they are people too. serving up 2 HRs on a night Albert Pujols was celebrated in the stadium before the game to hit #700 is real convenient. he struck out the next batter.

The Dodgers given token slow applause with dead looks on their faces was hilarious. You could tell they were all thinking are we really doing this in our own park. The manager looked dead on the inside. "When are we gonna wrap this shite up and start playing again?"

What a hitter Pujols is. Only the 3rd player in MLB history to hit 700 without the cloud of steroids over his head. Amazing feat.

No doubt. I didn’t think there was any way he was getting it this year, but he did with plenty to spare.

He is 42 and tearing it up. He is on something. Pretty obvious.

Dude filed for divorce from his wife of 22 years at the beginning of the season. He's jacked up on freedom

what caused this resurgence from Pujols this year?

The untested, undefeated HGH. MLB moved away from testing for it during COVID, and now only tests for it 'with cause'-- and the easy pop of Judge and Pujols chasing history? No cause to be found in the offices of MLB.

“42-year-olds” (he’s at least 45) don’t get this hot at this stage of their careers, especially after 5 years of being arse before this year.

Mistake pitches is why Bickford had an ERA over 4.50. No pitcher wants to be remembered giving up milestone homers.

He hit 12 out in 189 at bats with the Dodgers last year. So he showed he had something left in the tank.

So I started this thread on 8/18 when Albert was sitting at 690. Fast forward to him hitting two Friday night to get to 700 and just wow is all I can say. Now he sits one win anyway Tuesday night to clinch the NL Central and the possibility of a magical postseason run. It’s been quite the ride. Hopefully he gives a few more moments before he rides off into the sunset

Sure it would be cool to see but he has zero chance of hitting 10 homers in 45 games.

I realize Albert is up there in age, but damn if he shouldn’t consider hanging on to take the overall record from Bonds.
