I think that has a lot to do with his demeanor, why he was always played in SA, why he was never really done endorsements etc but whatever....more power to him.

Nah, the real reason is he sucks at self-aggrandizement/promotion. Google the self-psychoanalysis article he wrote in 1999. It was hilariously horrible. Since then, he dialed back his self-promotion to basically nil, and it's worked out better.

What part of TAKING OVER A GAME AT THE END do you not get? There is no doubt CP3 fills the stat sheet but almost every Playoff game/series comes down to who has the best player that can take over in the last 2 minutes of a game. CP3 isn't one of those guys, Duncan is one. I mean, just look at the 3 pointer Duncan made to keep the Suns from winning a Championship in like 07.

Me too, especially with both of them being in my top 5 least favorite players list. They're criminally underrated by the avg. fan though.

Dude you are saying Tony Parker is a better PG than Chris Paul. I love Tony Parker and Chris Paul is one of my top 3 least like players in the leage and I think that idea is ridiculous.

Chris Paul is a better passer, scorer, and defender.

Honest question: Do you seriously think Chris Paul wouldn't have been just as successful placed in Tony Parkers situation? Parker in Chris Paul's?

I'm not trying to take away from Parker at all. He's an outstanding player with a phenomenal career and is a huge reason the Spurs have won 4 rings. He was phenomenal for a couple years to keep the Spurs on that 50 game win streak too.

I have no idea about CP3 because he has never played with guys that good but I have seen Parker play at CP3s level when the other stars on his team were out

ETA: there is no way CP3 is a better scorer, none. Look at how he played in his prime when the other members of the big 3 were out. CP3 might be a better passer but Parker is a better game manager

See that is where your argument falls apart. Chris Paul has taken over many playoff games late. My favorite team played 13 games against them in the playoffs in consecutive seasons. I would know.

For the record, Tbird, an avowed Frenchie McWonderbutt apologist, is not insinuating that Parker>>>paul

Put Paul on the Spurs, he'd be successful. No doubt. Parker is better at running the Spurs' offense, but Paul would contribute tangibly in other major ways.

This is silliness.

Unpopular opinion, but I still think Paul is the best point guard in the game

As of 2014

quote:

Paul has generally done well in big moments. He has outshot almost every superstar in crunch time, and he’s a tidy 18-of-36 in the last five minutes of playoff games in which the score has been within five points.

I agree with this. The system Parker runs frowns upon him going after his own stats. Just the nature of the beast that Pop runs. Definitely not a better scorer right now, in his injured state, but overall, when Tony has been in attack mode historically, there's nothing you can do about it. Game management, as well, Tony is superior. Again, a function of SA's system.

Paul is a better defender, though. Also a better passer.

Meh I think the Spurs would be an even bigger juggernaut with him.

He does a lot of what TP does, but just better.

I think Steph surpassed him this season, but he is a very close #2 imo

I don't think they know how good of a scorer Parker is when he is the #1 option. 95% of NBA fans probably don't but what has been seen cannot be unseen and I know you have seen it. He really could have 3 or 4 scoring titles on a different team. He wouldn't have the NBA titles but he would be have led the NBA in scoring.

Eh, I don't think he'd run our offense as well as TP does. Not saying we wouldn't be damn successful with him, but it'd be in different ways. More ball-dominant PG play than "beautiful game" ball movement, but no doubt Pop would get an insane amount of production out of him.
