Or they are just dressing up as random safari animals

Only most of this board would not see the racist intent of this theme, tame the hurricanes but mostly bananas and a monkey around one of their necks, safari theme does have nothing to do with bananas, that the dumb sh!t, school leadership should have stepped in and rethought this image. Racism is learned/taught behavior, kids aren’t born to be racist

I apologize. Using monkeys and bananas as the theme when playing a black school is just made up outrage.

Or there’s a ton of people in this thread who are ignoring the problem.

Yes, they’re promoting the endangered banana seen often in Africa

Theres a person with a literal horse head on. Flamingos are in there, leopard print pants, etc.

I mean shite, someone is wearing roller skates. Is that in a safari?

I see multiple monkeys and more bananas than anything. But keep spinning it.

Soft But a lot of monkey and bananas for a "safari" I would expect more lions, zebras, etc for safari

We are not talking about prom here. Nobody wants to spend a lot of money on one of many theme days throughout the year. The kids also have to wear the theme at school all day so unless they want to look weird in class all day with the costume on they are doing minimal.

Most theme days are "wear green" or something.

I dont see how the picture can be taken as racist.

If there is a problem it's in your head.

I went to an AISA school and we played Pickens Academy, and them baws were frickin' fierce. Not sure what they fed them back then, but they were significantly stronger, and tougher than any other AISA school we played.

Which was a summer camp staff in Wisconsin whose photos was used (and probably not consented)

I’m more pissed off over the potential breach of intellectual property and not proposed racism

So if there were less it would be ok? What is the proper ratio of monkeys and bananas to other animals that is acceptable?

Over a photo that isn’t even of the school and wasn’t even used with consent from this summer camp in Wisconsin

There’s also a kid in a horse mask, one dressed up as a cat and several with safari outfits.

Like I said, stop being such a pussy.

There’s no problem to ignore unless you’re a pussy looking for racism in everything you see.

ETA: Turns out the photo isn’t even the students, so you’re melting about monkeys looks even worse.

A reasonable person would not "chimp out" over an innocent post about safari/jungle theme night for a high school supporters section. A reasonable person would give the kids the benefit of the doubt.

Now if those kids were to throw bananas on the field, make monkey noises when Pickens County has the ball like soccer ultras do, or come up with racist chants, then different story.

Its unfortunate that pretending to play the victim still carries weight in some segments of society. Pickens County's excuse is about as plausible as Justin Fields claiming to hear racial slurs directed at him from the stands when he was trying to transfer out from UGA and not have to sit out a year. Or better yet, the Duke-BYU volleyball hoax.

An appropriate punishment that the pertinent Alabama athletic governing body should administer is a post-season ban for Pickens County this season (because cancelling their season only punishes their future opponents).

So you associate monkeys and banana with black people?
