Altuve/Stanton

Likely going to be Judge in the AL. I disagree with it. But it is what it is.

In fact they might be AL East champions if they put a replacement player there for 55 games.

And what if they put in a replacement player for the first 90 games?

Your argument is terrible.

I hate being the last post....

My vote, Votto & Trout. Who will win? Stanton & Judge.

Also, I wouldn't be opposed to JD Martinez being in the NL MVP race.

Jose Ramirez (83 RBI, not 56) and Stanton

the mvp award is for the entire 2017 season. not 2/3s of the 2017 season. Judge was absolutely awful for a large portion of the season. Its why I wouldnt pick Trout who was injured for a large portion of the season.

ETA I think I see the confusion in my comment regarding having a replacement player . I meant in reference to having one in that 55 game stretch ie he got hurt and missed that portion of the season. They have a sub in there and they win the AL East

Not sure how I missed that one.

Altuve would probably be considered more of a 5 tool guy. More stolen bases, hitting for higher average.

Think Altuve should win it. Plays at a more valuable position. He was the constant on the Astros when Springer and Correa were out and not playing well.

Oh, I know what you meant. And it's stupid.

I mean its not really debatable that the yankees would have been better with Judge unable to enter the lineup for that 55 game stretch. He was hitting sub 200 with a massive amount of Ks and minimal HRs. If your team would be better with a sub for 1/3 of the season IMO you shouldnt win the MVP.

ETA I should pull up some of your posts from those games

He sucked but he was still getting on base at a decent clip. It was basically walk, strikeout, or pop out.

What if your team would be substantially worse without you for 2/3 of the season? What would Judge's WAR be without those 50 games? Probably still right around 7 or 8? I'm not saying you just get to take the bad games out, because that's stupid. You can't. However, he was so, so, so valuable for 2/3 of the season.

It's a 162-game season. You can take your snapshots of the season and find places where a guy was awesome and bad, but it's the entire photo album that counts.

For me it's just that it was such a large portion of the season that the other 2/3 doesn't outweigh it particularly with another viable contender fantastic season fantastic player ROY for sure. If it was a 20 game stretch for sure I'd give it to him

ETA and I'm obviously biased to the other candidate

Don’t understand how people think Altuve deserves it over Judge. Judge’s stats are better and it really isn’t close.

You forgot 204 K’s For Judge. Over 1/3rd of his ABs resulted in a strikeout.

According to the MLB Altuve has a WAR of 8.4 while Judge is at 7.98.
