What a stupid power trip by the umpire.

Bring in the robots. Umps are incompetent and out of control this year.

MLB umpires are the gift that keeps on giving.
What’s hilarious is the game cast shows he got ejected after a strike call FOR his pitcher that was about 4 inches off the plate.

Something has got to be done about these umps.

They are probably better off without him in the dugout anyway.

Manager/official arguments are as ingrained a part of baseball more than any other sport. And it's the only major sport where the officials can eject a coach without any precondition. In football the coach spends the entire game yelling at the officials to the point where it is ignored and the coach is never ejected. Same thing in basketball, except there is a required two technical fouls before a HC is tossed.
Baseball doesn't have this. That's what leads to actions like this. The long history of baseball has made ump/manager fights part of the "show".

Imagine a multitude of cameras and an AI orchestrates the game with instantaneous calls in real time with no delays.
Instead of umpires, the game has supplied security personnel to protect the players and the typical grounds crew.
The game would be played much faster with no real disputes, in theory.

Because of the union, anything approaching this would be tied up in litigation for the next 20 years.

I have literally never spent $1 on major league baseball, and never will..intentionally.
This is exactly why. Umpires ruin the game for us casual fans. No where else in a business is such credit given to bad performers. And where you do find it, that business is failing.
Home plate umps is the single most pathetic thing in sports. Some unathletic fatass, who can't bend down, is trying to call precision pitches at 100 mph in an area below or outside of his line of sight..
Uuuugh. It nauseated me to even type.

It's very simple. Technology calls balls and strikes. Maybe 2 umps oversee other calls (balks, etc) and every single other call is made thru video.
Technology is easily capable, and where it would miss, an ump wouldn't be of help anyway.

There are a finite number of existing active umpires that can be retired with a very lucrative exiting employment package.
Humans can replaced by machines in all industries regardless of unions.

Can umps throw out fans?

This along with Angel Hernandez continuing to be employed will make the next umpire negotiations interesting.

Can’t wait for teams hiring fans that sound like opposing coach and pay for them to sit close to them and say stuff to get him kicked out.
ETA: When I say hire I mean off the books type of hire wink wink
