So thats why he deserves a deal as big as Matt Stafford's deal?
He is better that Stafford.

Who is Eastern Illinois' rival? I have a feeling you went there.

A nobody QB from Eastern Illinois
2nd round draft pick with 2 super bowl rings. He was 130+ picks higher than Tom GOAT.

Teams used to pay big money for players coming straight out of college. Not really that big of a deal imo.

Jimmy Garoppolo is better than Matthew Stafford? Is that what you're saying? I just want to be clear here.

Are you a San Fran fan? It would totally make your delusion understandable.

Until they put a cap on that because teams became too afraid of paying big money to guys who hadn't played a down yet. Teams were trading out of the top spots left and right.

He's got you there, tigger but seriously if it came down to talent between the two I'd obviously choose Stafford over Jimmy dude has the arm of God and has simply been a machine the last 7 years, almost unstoppable

people are scurrreeeed. Jimmy G is going to be fricking good, its absurdly easy to see. Trust me, I can't stand that he's a 49er but he is going to win at least 1 ring if the front office puts the right personnel around him at the right price.

But I get it, Garoppolo is an NFL legend and some what of a super hero, so even if he does normal things, its somehow better than anyone else before him. He won 5 games, start etching his plaque for the hall of fame already.

Nobody is saying that, moron. The fact is, the 49ers improved drastically on offense when Jimmy G took over, and he was going to be a Free Agent.

In this league, he was going to get paid and get paid massively. If he would have merely been given a Top 5 QB salary (which he would have), you would still be bitching about it. But that's what the 49ers were willing to pay a guy that, with the same personnel available to him that Beathard and Hoyer had, managed to win 4 more games than those two combined this year.

Is that going to translate to a Super Bowl? Probably not, and then the deal will be as foolish as it looked. But no more foolish than giving Stafford a huge deal with no real success (ZERO postseason wins, no Super Bowls).

I hate looking at that as some meaningful plus minus because it puts so emphasis on how the last play of a drive ends. That said, I can't believe most of the MSB is in favor of this contract. Everyone is so in love with dreamy Jimmy on here. We need some shel common sense to explain how dumb this move was.

I'm not saying he'll fall

But i see nothing in his stats that says "best in league" or even close to it
