81 years ago today, Joe Nuxhall did it. He was a sophomore in high school, he needed a note from his principal.
Ended up pitching 16 seasons for the Reds

This guy did it in ‘93

He went on to be the Reds radio announcer from 1967 through 2004.
The guy is a Cincy legend.

Bob Feller was 17 and was pretty much an all star from the beginning...

Shows you how bad baseball was back in those days that Major League teams would rather sign 15-year-olds over black players to replace the players who left for World War II.

Dottie didn't drop the ball on purpose.

David Clyde was 17 or just turned 18 when he pitched for the Rangers in 1973

I watched this movie the other day. I think LSU was in a weather delay.

It really is sad.
“Should we look at this Satchell Paige guy from the Negro League?”
“No, find me a high school kid.”

All the downvotes for your post says a lot about this board.

Maybe it also shows that they didn't have the Dominican and Puerto Rican pipeline program set up yet. It's not like they're not starting out young, we just never know their real ages.

Hot ice! We heat up the ice cubes. It's the best of both worlds!

I think people didn't read the whole post. At first I thought he didn't realize it was WW2.

Our very own Juan Soto debuted as a 19 year old & slashed .292/.406/.517 over 116 games.

Nice tagline he had at the end of the post-game wrap up as the reds announcer for 30 years or so.
‘This is the old left-hander, rounding third and heading for home. Good night everyone.’
A big part of my youth listening to Reds radio w my old man - before everything was on TV.

That's a great old Rawlings Trap-eze web "six finger" infielder glove that kid has in the pic. Didn't remember it from the movie. My pop was a huge Stan Musial fan - I remember he had an old Rawlings ad featuring Stan the Man when they came out with that design in the 50's. I think he might have been the first to use a glove with that web design.
