This is in the biggest class for high school football in Alabama (7A) on top of that. Unreal

Saw this earlier, should be a crazy arse recruitment for this kid in a few years assuming he keeps developing

He’s also a member of the middle school band.

That’s wild.

I see he has an offer from Northern Colorado. Hopefully we can give him a better NIL deal.

Not sure if I heard correctly, but is that their 4th state championship in a row? If so, they must be a really loaded team.

Yep. They have taken over recently. Dethroned Hoover for powerhouse of the state as of now.

they're doing now what hoover did 20 years ago. Basically paying for anyone and everyone with talent to come from all over the country to move into the area and play ball for htem.

It really sucks because alabaster USED to be a tiny small town lazy little town (you coudl barely call it a town) and now it's gotten to be exactly how you'd imagine considering the first part above.

Seems strange that the powerhouse of the state doesn't have a better option than an 8th grader at qb.

if they are so loaded and recruitment based, how is an 8th grader their best option? seems odd no matter how good he is.

starter got hurt and maybe the back up also. He must have impressed enough people and was better then option 3. Not sure when he became the starter but they lose to Hoover earlier in the year and he was the starter. This may have been game number 7 or 8 of the regular season. They then blew Hoover out in the playoffs. He appears to be mature beyond his years. My wife hears him being interviewed yesterday after the game and came away impressed. She said he was the MVP of the game and gave his trophy to his WR who made a lot of plays. Just think with Thompson being such a power house that this young fella could win potentially 5 state titles at the largest division of HS ball in Alabama.

It is pretty amazing. When I was in 8th grade I couldn't have imagined playing qb in HS

8th grade high school student? Do they not have middle school there or is it like 6/7th middle school?

you can pull up kids that would transition to that HS from that MS. Smaller schools in Alabama do it all the time but this is virtually unheard of at the largest classification of HS in Alabama. Every now and then a stud comes along. You hear of kids at smaller schools who got a 5 varsity letters. I know of a young man in my area who played varsity on the D side as an 8th grader.

Can you physically peak too early as a QB like someone playing a more physical position like Dylan Moses did? Seems like QBs would only keep getting better since the brain is just as important as the body for that position. It’s not like the guy who grew the earliest beating up on the smaller kids.

If you're fine as an 8th grader, you're gonna be fine as a senior. How you translate to collegiate level is different.

Not sure the validity of it, but saw on another board his cousins are the Tagovailoa’s. This kids family moved from Colorado. Apparently he was good enough to start all year but the dad wanted to protect him from that. He took mop up duty with the understanding that he would likely be called upon in the playoffs. Kid throws a good ball and if (big if) his growing continues at this rate he’ll be one of those made in a lab 6’4”+ 220+ QB prospects

He’s playing against SEC players every weekend at Thompson. Pretty wild for a 13 year old

Not to take anything away from what this 8th grade QB is doing, but I noticed the offensive line dominates both run and pass blocking. I did watch some highlights of the title game and the QB was making some great TD throws. They are all impressive.
