It wasn't The U, but it was also not RT/WE. Solid middle ground.

i used that as an example because it was all about college football and the premise was geared to more recent events.

so far some of the better 30-for-30's I've seen were not.

Marcus Dupree
Benji
Two Escobars
The Pony Excess...

just to name a few.

hell, I found the figure skating one more interesting than some of the college football crap arse additions they've put out.

its almost like how the America's Game series has gone.

when they dredge up the real old stories at first, man, those were better.

now when they show the newest ones they feel rushed and stale.

i guess it is the times we live in.

Definitely had more of a recruiting pitch vibe than in depth documentary.

Thought the most interesting bit was Lendale White calling out Carroll for leaving USC high and dry with the disciplinary actions coming down the pike.

Did it show Lendale fake jumping off the roof?

I didn't think it was terrible but they glossed over high points, jumped around and made it choppy and had some retarded choices on who they interviewed. I have no problem with snoop and the former players/coaches, but some of the others on there were wasted space.

Pretty bummed because I was excited about getting behind the scenes a bit, but it was pretty meh. Thoughts?

They didn't really say or tell us what we didn't already know... And they kept talking about how they were going for THREE straight titles... It was a waste of time IMO...

didn't watch, knew ESPN would not throw USC under the bus and would hype them up!

the entire episode seemed to be narrated by a 14-year old.

Michael B. Jordan was the narrator (Vince from Friday Nught Lights series)

Nothing can be as terrible as Roll Tide / War Eagle, but Trojan War came close.

I knew 30 For 30 would take a nosedive shortly before or after Bill Simmons left ESPN, though the quality of their pieces has gone down rapidly in the last two years or so when Simmons stepped back a by. ESPN has essentially started using it as a vehicle for puff pieces, and Trojan War is just one example. This reminded me a lot of Brian And The Boz and The U (both parts), which were horrendous.

It was very terrible. They tried to hard to copy the Miami 30 for 30. The problem with USC was they only won one national championship game during this span. They were undefeated in only one season. Definitely not a dynasty. ESPN just tried to hard on this one.

I will always remember those USC teams as "not quite as good as they thought they were". Don't get me wrong, they were really good. But they were seldom tested, the Pac 10 was a complete joke then.

Leinart, Bush, White and Jarret were completely overhyped!! Their lack of NFL success backs that up imo

the "shame of the century line" during the ad was pretty telling to where this one was going.

i was a bit underwhelmed. i was hoping hear behind the scenes stories. instead we got an inside to just how arrogant USC was.

it was just nothing new. all 3pete or bust. completely glossed over the 03 BCS controversy. nothing of the 06-09 era.

i enjoyed it b/c it was a flashback to 10-11 years ago. god i hated SC, but damn were they good. Leinart is my GOAT college QB. the way he coordinated that offense was incredible.

They run third to the U teams of 2000-02 and the Bama teams of 09-12 if we are talking dynasties from the BCS era. They were really fricking good but I thought it was telling when White said something like "the speed they had, we had never seen that before" about 05 UT. The 05 UT team had the same type of team speed that the really good Miami Bama and LSU teams had in the same era.

Had the breaks fallen a little bit differently in any of 2003, 2005, 2006, or 2008, they would have been an all-time dynasty,

I could do this with countless teams when they were riding a good few years. You conveniently forget about all the times the breaks DID fall their way.

they also avoided 2004 Auburn. They have so many what ifs, I wish the playoff was around back then.
