Looking forward to this one.
I've said that about almost all of the 30 for 30's.

#1 Recruit coming out of high school the same year as Dalton and James.
Urban Legend about Marcus: Supposedly, OU coaches were on him about not getting in the weight room enough. Dupree was walking through the weight room and told a coach, if I can bench press whats on the bar right now will you leave me alone? The coach told him yes and proceeded to press 400 pounds.

James who?

I assumed he meant Garry James

Gary James from West Jeff and former Tiger. Have you guys never heard of the Dalton-James Gang?
BTW, Craig James was already in Pro ball playing for SMU with Dickerson. Also, Reggie Dupard from Curtis was in that high school recruiting class.

Just saw the teaser on sportscenter. Gonna set my dvr.
I have fond memories of the Breakers in my early teens, and definitely loved Dupree & Buford Jordan.
I don't know what it is about the old footage, but I just don't see those big smooth dynamic Speed & Power runners anymore like you used to see emerge seemingly every year. Seems like OJ, Walter Payton, Dupree, Bo Jackson, Eric Dickerson, Curt Warner, etc were dime a dozen back then.
Nowadays, I'm hard-pressed to name a big RB look as graceful. Maybe Deuce or AD in college, when they were at their most elusive.

I was too young to see him play but from the clips the guy looked fast. I will definitely be tuning in.

they're all playing LB or DE, depending on height

He was legitimately in the class of Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker. He had the potential to be revered as much as Walker, had he not left school.
There were some GREAT running backs in that era. For about 7 or 8 years, there were some amazing guys:
Tony Dorsett
Earl Campbell
Charles Alexander (under appreciated nationally)
Herschel Walker
Charles White
Marcus Allen
Marcus Dupree
Billy Sims
Eric Dickerson
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Seems like every team between 1975-83 or so had a RB who was a threat to take it the distance on any play.

You're right.
It seemed like everybody had a beast back then.

I saw Dupree play as a child. I was not old enough to really appreciate what I was seeing, but I can remember the hype about him coming to town.
My father, who played college football, still to this day says he is the best football player he has ever seen in person...high school, college or pro, as an 18 year old.
He seems to essentially be the Lebron James of high school football that was derailed by injuries, among other things.
He was 6'3", 235 and ran something like a 9.5 100 yards...the equivalent of a low 10s 100m.

And as a freshman at OU he returned a few punts.

He was supposedly better than Herschel Walker in HS. He broke Herschel's national HS TD record his senior year. He was also all state in Basketball, Baseball, and Track.
