but would assume its over 20% of Japan was tuned into the game

Yeah, there were reports of huge watch parties on YouTube, everyone wearing their Ohtani jersey....Or maybe a Yamamoto.

Game 7 started around 10am in Japan on Sunday... So they had all day to loaf around with morning Sake.

Seeing the news reports interviewing Japanese viewers, it was like Tokyo Giants won the WS...Dodgers are sort of Japan's national team now. So Japan won the WS if you read how it was written up in Japan Times.

How do these numbers compare to big NBA, college football and march madness games?

The last time the NBA had a similar rating was 2017 Warriors vs Cavs
College football National Championships have similar numbers most years
The last time a Final Four game had a similar rating was 2017 UNC vs Gonzaga

The last time the NFL had a similar rating was Broncos vs Cowboys last Sunday (Yesterday's Chiefs vs Bills game hasn't posted a rating yet)

I don’t even know where to begin with this. The game has… changed.

Literally the same viewership as a regular season NFL game.

It's A nonexistent sport nationally except for weeks in October. It's basically CBB now, but less fun and less buzz.

Most national media is talking NFL and CFB today and just mentioning "oh man, what a great game 7."

MLB is a regional sport now and basically hockey with a bit more attention.

That is one of the best ways to get eyes on the screen. Over time, probably more people have watched Alabama, the Yankees, the Chiefs, the Cowboys, and Conor McGregor hoping to see them lose than hoping to see them win.

Regular season MLB is a snoozefest. The ALCS and World Series were awesome. Great stuff!

OKC and Pacers game 7 peaked at 16.35 million. That was the most viewers in a number of years although the overall numbers for the entire series were down from previous year. If 25.9 million for game seven is right the NBA hasn't had that high since 2016 game 7 of Cavs vs Warriors.
