Anytime a race or any sport Ming event goes against the NFL they lose viewership
I say this as someone who doesn’t watch the nfl

Thats just dumb to be honest.
Nascar has been racing on Sundays since inception. NFL has played on Sundays since inception.
Nascar used to get monster numbers. And misstep after misstep they lost many viewers every year.
And here we are still losing viewers but the amount us less and less each year solely because the pool is so small.
WNBA beat Charlotte this past week. Think about that. Thats how far Nascar has fallen. Even this thread only has about 5 posters. It used to have many more

No one is denying nascar has fallen off. Reality is it will never reach the heights it reached. Stock car auto racing just is not that interesting to the average person anymore. The generation that cared passionately about it is aging out. And younger generations simply don’t care about it.
I’m 35 and don’t have many around my age to even talk to about it.

That's fair. My retort is to other poster claiming NFL caused it. Nascar caused it

To be fair, the nfl will win head to head vs just about everything. NFL practically kicked the nba off Christmas Day. I think there are ways to be creative with the schedule around that time. In 2032, every single race needs to be OTA (or streaming on prime). And should not under any circumstances go off at the same time as the nfl team in the local market. If you have to move the time to avoid conflict, then move it.

Again, NFL is not the cause. Good racing brings viewers. Also, a good booth helps bring viewers. Also, having 14 different channels over the year does not increase viewers. A few races are great and get viewers.

Proves my point how bad this car is. They pu teams in a small box of adjustments. Crappy car and now after some years all teams have found about all adjustments to be had.
And also why the rain policy is crap. It’s been a huge advantage to start up front. And they base it on past races so one problem finish can haunt you for weeks. That happened at start of chase. 3 in a row decided by past races. Dumb

There are many factors as to why younger generations don’t care about NASCAR. Shorter attention spans of younger people, the lack of action and passing with this car (arguably gen 6 too), and the marketability of drivers play a role. Remember watching races in the early to mid 2000s? Every other commercial was a driver promoting his sponsor in a creative way. Nowadays, those are mostly absent, but we get more ED and AIDS commercials.

The many different channels are not good. I agree there.
You say nfl isn’t the issue, but nascar runs races the same days as nfl games. The nfl will continue to draw more than nascar as long as they run the same day.

They have been head to head forever - so that equalizes. But fans have left Nascar because it’s stale and boring. They dropped over 8m fans in 20 or so years. Decisions were made, fans left. And here we are talking about a shell of a sport.

I’ve been a fan since 1997. That schedule was stale as frick for years. Schedule has largely been exciting since 2021.

It’s the car nor the schedule. It’s not NFL nor any other made up excuses. Car and booth and TV stations.

Well for once leadership is willing to find a fix. OD will get it fixed. France and Phelps were not interested. They were too disconnected from the industry. OD has the pulse.

Very logical response

Anybody watch the Shane Hmiel episode of DJ Download that came out last week?
Hadn’t thought about that guy in 20 years but it was a good show recapping the chaos of his life.

Yes. If that happened to me, I wouldn’t be as upbeat as SH. Shane has been through it all and refuses to give up. Props to him.
Life hasn’t gone the way I thought it would go, but it certainly could be a whole lot worse. It makes me take a step back and count my blessings.
