He's fun and controversial without being arrogant like Gibbs. And he's perfectly fine wearing that hat.

Seems to me Hocevar is what Chastain was a few years back. You have to be careful how many drivers (and thus teams/owners) you piss off.
Old days we didn’t have so many super teams and cross team support. Dale Sr didn’t have to worry who he pissed off. Same for others. But thats changed. Most Chevy teams get engines from HMS. They seem to be really fair in having a lotto pick for engines, but their engineers are still involved race weekends.
Thats kinda what happened to Chastain he likely started getting nit as good support and faded to back. I would caution Hocavar to not overdo it.
I agree about Gibbs he’s a flat out punk.

Thought Shane did a good job compared to where he started. P13 in a cars tour race isn’t anything to scoff at for a debut.

He was hanging in the early to mid 20s most of the race until he peaked at the end. Good for him. Zillich had a sold day too while Harvick faded at the end.
I wish Louisiana had a local short track for some good racing like we saw at Florence.
You know. Sooner or later Keelan Harvick and Brexton Busch will be racing against each other on an oval in NASCAR, and that is going to make me feel old.

We could have had a speedway here… if we didn’t have some of the most crooked politicians in government.
They’d secure funding and find a way to frick it up.

Got to meet Austin Dillion and Ricky Stenhouse today. Dillion is a pretty cool guy. Took time to talk to us and he spent extra time answering my son’s questions.

Brennan Poole and Kyle Sieg finished higher than Allgaier at Darlington. Ooof.

Heading to the track in a couple of hours. Local weather showing thunderstorms around 8 tonight. Race starts at 5 ET, so hopefully they can get majority of the race in before a weather delay.

I hope you have a great time and the you get to enjoy a great race with no weather issues

That was a great race last night. Had it all. Day finished 2nd after all the dust ups. Amazing how the track changed so much start to finish. And all the strategies. Also the drivers in back plowing into wrecked cars, their spotters were either slow or drivers were trying to delay slowdown to pick up a spot or two.
NOAP continues to have great racing.
Another note, the chase is 100% different than fans are used to. No more resets. Means you can make up the difference whereas in past years it reset and reg season leaders got advantage every time. I think its going to be much better at least in NOAP where there is action every race. Cup is predetermined for Hamlin to win.

I figured you were watching CFB last night. Allgaier and Kvapil had one of their worst showings this year when not involved in an accident and to have that happen in the first race of the chase too.
This really is Hamlin’s chase to lose. He doesn’t make mistakes so it’ll be plain bad luck that would keep him from hoisting the trophy.

I was. Recorded race and watched this morning. Somehow didn’t run into any spoilers. Sawalich told Day he was gonna wreck him during chase. To me that was a 50/50 accident.

Same. It would’ve been a stupid move by Day to do that on purpose being that WS18 isn’t in the chase. WS has nothing to lose so Day will catch some retaliation regardless.

Toyota strong as usual so far. Larson out front and Berry running in the top ten again is refreshing. Hamlin got hit with some postseason bad luck.

Berry’s top 10 streak has been impressive

Berry’s driving has been outstanding, but the Wood Brothers had to have found some speed about six weeks ago. Jesse Love has got to love this for next year knowing this car can suddenly compete.

Had a great time. My son got tired and we ended up leaving right before the red flag. Made it home to watch the last 20 laps or so. We sat in turn 1, which out of all the times I’ve been to the track, was the first time sitting there.

Toyota has pretty much owned the Southern 500 over the last 10 years. I don’t know what they do different, but Darlington has turned into a Toyota track.

Toyota was penned in to win it all in the backroom deal. Just a matter of who. Whatever Nascar gave them they likely informed teams to throttle back the past few months as it was so obvious. Chase starts and they ran away except some troubles and strategies. 5 of top 6 in standings are Toyota.
McDowell took out 2 cars basically, he musta been the designated yellow maker.
Hocevar is really turning into an arse. He wrecked Kes twice in one corner. Never took accountability. Will bite him just like Chastain, he’s too arrogant to realize it yet.
Chase and Alan are really not compatible. Chase heard 2 tires Alan claimed 4 and it cost them a long time on the money stop.
Byron deal was strange. He didn’t realize engine nor did team until he went back out and blew it for good.
Hamlin got McDowelled and it cost him. Glad to see.
Pit stops were all over the map on crews.
Brisco roughed up Bell on prior go last yellow and I thought Bell might go wreck him, and he should have. So many 2nds and a teammate treats you like that. Karma worked out and Bell got win.
Like I said the reset means anyone can win it all. Hamlin lead down to 11pts. Its just a matter of which Toyota it is
