He decided to start a soph at catcher with 0 meaningful varsity innings and who struggled in JV over 2 seniors to “try something different”. Multiple overthrows and passed balls led to a breakout inning for Brusly which snowballed into a run rule.

I hate to put it all on one player, but a district championship and a possible chance to host a playoff series on the line is not the time to “try” such an unproven option. Hopefully lessons have been learned and the ridiculously tough schedule will make for a surprising post season.

PHS over Riverdale 8-2 to advance. At least they get another week, another trip to NOLA and a chance to play BM.

Central’s coach was suspended for the rest of the playoffs? Anyone have the video of his antics?

Well to be completely honest, ive been to a few of their games this year and their catching situation STINKS without that big kid from AP back there, so i cant say i wouldnt have tried to throw a new option back there. But i hear ya.. was just curious

that is surprising. Arguably their best arm is hurt and they won three district games total. I didn’t see them winning a playoff series, winning a game was a stretch in my mind…

For a shirt taking off episode it seemed rather mild.

Yeah, it was definitely for an accumulation of events.

I’ve been an opposing fan at 2 of his games this year. He reminds me of Cecchini in so far as his gamesmanship/childish/motivational techniques. Literally turned a scrimmage into 4.5 hrs with meetings with his batters to interrupt pitcher’s timing.

Also saw him in an actual game leave the 3rd base coach’s box running up the line all the way to home plate on a ball in play to the pitcher, yelling toward the field.

But I think if we’re all being honest, we would take the coach with passion over the one just filling out a card going through the motions when our kid is involved. And after meeting Cechinni, there is a level of appreciation you gain when he’s not in the opposing dugout.

I’m sure it might be the same in this case.

Actually PHS' best two arms are hurt (for sure 2 of the best 3, who are also the starters at SS and 1B when they are not pitching) and they have another starter out... but they played scrappy these two games and get another week.

Agreed. In this day and age when so many coaches remind me of a cardboard cutout in the dugout- give me the coach that displays passion and love for his players. It drives opponents nuts and fuels your own team. #freesham

There is passion, and there is stupidity… yall seem to be getting this confused in this situation

He should be fired. Arguing with umps is part of the game, and I was top of the class when I was coaching

But these antics?!? Come on now… that’s an embarrassment to the entire Central community

While it’s not a good look I expected much worse.

Nah. I’m not saying he shouldn’t have been suspended. This action will probably result in affecting his behavior moving forward

My only point in posting a response was to say he could end up being a successful coach you would prefer having over many that punch the clock

Central playing like a team without a true head coach right now. What can go wrong has gone wrong.

I took today off. I got to Fabacher at 2 and it was pushed back to 4 and went to a double header. I would have been possibly covering another doubleheader this morning. I didn't have the juice for that.

Saw New Iberia scored 8 on Ruston in Game 2. 13-8 loss. The NISH coach was very upbeat about his senior class and nostalgic, regardless of whether they went 0-2 at RHS.
