Yeah, luckily for Honda they’ll get a chance to fix it. Maybe by the time Merc gets their advantage taken away Honda will have some more power to match.

Hard to believe they’ve seemingly dropped the ball this much and “Ford” Red Bull got it so right.

Maybe it was Red Bull all long?

I heard Red Bull took a bunch of the Honda engineers who worked on the previous engine, so that might explain a lot.

And ford are no dummies when it comes to racing.

RBPT also was allowed more development time as a new engineer producer. And had access to almost all the IP that Honda had.

Also Merc has allegedly passed the "new" test with their engine without making any changes. We'll see if that hold true.

Ferrari pulling another trick out of their bag today. This rear wing could actually create lift on the straights instead of just lessening downforce.

My biggest takeaway from that video is how horrible the engine sounds. It's just all electric whine.

If Honda really is that far back I feel like it's their own fault. Their non-commitment to F1 is what brought about Red Bull building their own engines, though likely leaning on a ton of Honda engineering. Only for Honda to do a complete 180 and decide to stay in F1 and build engines for Aston.

Meanwhile Audi is just cruising right along with their entirely new engine and everything right?
I feel like there’s no news about them.

Only problem I’ve seen from Audi could be fixed with some heat tape or a small heat shield.

That makes me want to have Grosjean back so he can plow through the field with his Ferrari PU.

Plodding along would be a better description

James Vowles was asked about the innovative Ferrari rear wing. He said anything unusual you see in testing falls into two categories, either all the teams have thought about it and dismissed it, or they haven't - and within 24 hours the experts back at the factories will have produced data as to whether it is worth considering.

When pushed, he admitted this fell into the second category - so the rest of the teams will be hard at work tonight crunching some numbers to see if it is an idea that is worth pursuing.

Saw that earlier, AM is so cooked...

I remember people questioning HAAS and Maz years ago and being DQ'd for being so far behind the pace. We could see it this year with AM

Max single handedly changing future regs

quote:

Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali says he is confident Max Verstappen will not leave the sport despite the four-time world champion having recently expressed concern over new regulations for the 2026 season.

quote:

"I met with Max," Domenicali said. "We know Max will be part of the future of Formula 1. It is very important we listen to him, as we do with all of the top drivers

"He has a way of saying something that can be interpreted in a certain way. But I can guarantee to you that Max wants and does care about Formula 1 more than anyone else.

"I had a very constructive meeting with him, and we will have a very constructive meeting with the FIA and with the teams to highlight the point of view as to what he believes needs to be done, which is to keep the driving style at the centre without changing the approach.

The reason is that some manufacturers were pushing for a ‘hot-only’ test in order to configure their power units to exceed the 16:1 limit when cold and then have them drop down to the regulation limit when up to operating temperature.

The cold and hot test would thwart that plan, essentially because the ‘compliant at all times’ part of the regulations originally used against Mercedes would, in this case, be used against those complaining.

The technical backdrop to this is that most power units (with the apparent exception of the Mercedes) loses compression ratio as it gains temperature.

A former power unit technical boss has explained to The Race that typically an engine with a 16:1 compression ratio when cold would drop to around 15.2-15.2:1 in operation because although the con rod expands, the block expands more.
