Merc dropping a potential WDC would be an epic move. Just not sure I see that happening this year.
Max looks more and more like he will stay ar RBR. The money is there and the seat is there. Going to be a lot.of people walking back comments about Max leaving F1 over the next couple of months. Typical yahoos summing up a complicated situation over 4 races and 3 quotes.

Agreed, if he left last year, I’d wonder about the legal situation. This year, he has more room to make a move since his contract says he can now leave a year earlier after the summer break.
The opportunities of last year are just not there anymore, so he’s better off waiting until to see how things settle down for another year while also looking like a saint—$70 million a year to do that still doesn’t seem bad..

Yeah, no one will ever produce a contract. I wouldn't believe anything we think we know about F1 contracts.
Silly season will kick off soon.

Alonso has indicated he is done after this year, but even if still in the game, don't know who the frick would want to go to AM with the shitshow it is.
Everything hinges on what Max does, if anything.

With a benchmark like Stroll, sounds like a cushy 9-5 job.

All right, the TD F1 Championship results are in!
dg42.net/TDF1/race-results.php?race=8
The winner of the 2026 TD F1 Austrian Grand Prix is Lsut81, for his second podium and first win of the season!
The podium is filled out by YOURADHERE in P2 for his first podium, and Noryev in P3, for his second podium and second P3 in a row! Noryev had no points in the first four races, but has now scored points for four races in a row and podiums in the last two races, and is making more big moves up the championship table.
Oh, I just happened to notice that BottomlandBrew, who won in Monaco just two races ago, came in dead last in Austria.
Here's the championship table: dg42.net/TDF1/index.php
The top three in the championship, MississippiLebowski, MikeD, and pitstop did not score any points in Austria but held on to their positions. WAY2GOLSU rose one spot to P4. Lsut81 shot up from P9 to P5 with the win. YOURADHERE shot up from P14 to P7 with the P2 finish. Noryev shot up from P13 to P8 with the P3 finish.

Just catching up on the race.
You can always count on this track to give us some decent racing. Interesting this year to see some passes in areas you normally don't see it. I know some won't like it, but this is like the perfect track for this formula. The battery really comes into play and stretches where passes can be made and taken back.
Kimi showed his inexperience trying to make up positions on lap 1. He had no patience.
I'm not sure what RBR was thinking keeping Max out on the second stint. He had the pace to catch Russell, but strategy really burned him. Hindsight and all, they should have pitted when George did.
A lot of fun watching Hamilton and Max go at it. Hamilton pulling Max moves on Max, and Max bitching. How the turn tables.
Not much to say about P6 on downwards. Pretty shite midfield and back markers today. Normally, it's because they don't show much of it on the broadcast, but I didn't see much happening on the timing screen.
I expect my pick'em rankings to be on par with Cadillac, Williams, or AM's performance today.
ETA: Just saw my pick'ems. Dead fricking last

Max’s agent recently sent a shot across RBR’s bow by saying that Max wasn’t born to run in the midpack.

Sounds like he needs to drive faster with the best engine.
RBR has rhe resources to figure it out. Surprised how quick it flipped from him leaving F1 to him signing with RBR again.

You ain’t kidding.
Smartness of George all weekend led to his win.

A lot of very good drivers over the years have been stuck in midfield cars. It's like that all across sports. Star players on average teams. The unique challenge in F1 is there are only 11 teams, and if we're lucky, maybe two teams competing for a championship. Other sports and racing series have 3x more teams and better chances at the top spot.

Feels like a formula that will switch dominance.
Thought it was an engine formula but really may turn into a tech or aero formula.

Who knows which one of the elite teams will wind up on top next year with more modifications coming up for 2027.

Waiting for the appeal to come in that kicks me off the podium.
I want my podium back after Monaco.

These guys were brave. Just a large engine, a bit of sheet metal, and some cajones.

Speaking of those old school guys, I recently watched the movie Grand Prix. It'd be on my list for a long time, but finally got around to putting in the three hours to watch it. I'd heard the cinematography in it was amazing, but I was blown away by it. It shows what those guys did better than anything I've ever seen. I'd love to see it on a screen set up for Super Panavision 70.
Here are the first 10 minutes of the movie:
