I don't remember a race being moved a day ahead. Can't remember them all though
Would play hell for a lot of the VIPs and hospitality. Even a rain out is probably seen as better than a move forward this late in the game.
I'm gonna guess that an F1 race has never been moved up a day as a last-minute emergency measure. As you mention, that would piss off a lot of people.
I forgot this was a sprint weekend. It appears that Saturday is going to go on as scheduled, and as they get a better idea of the timing of the Sunday storms, they may move the start time of the grand prix up a couple of hours, like they did at the 2024 Brazilian GP (it started 90 minutes earlier than scheduled).

All right, the prediction lists are now locked.
You can look at everyone's prediction lists here: dg42.net/TDF1/race-prediction.php
There's a nice mix of predictions for George and Kimi for the win. Gulf Coast Tiger with the bold Max prediction.
For people who have updated their lists since the last race, it looks like there's an expectation of McLaren muscling in on Ferrari's "second-best car" positioning. There's less confidence in Red Bull moving up, except for GCT.
Remember, the predictions are only for the Sunday grand prix. The Saturday sprint is ignored in our game.

If being critical of F1's current state and the handling of it by Stefano and others is whining, then up, I whine a lot.

Doesn't look like any mitigation came out of the meeting Perez mentioned happening last night. Rolling dice and hoping weather holds.
Sounds like drivers have some concerns about safety of cars on wet track due to less downforce in turns and tire temps.

Sounds like drivers have some concerns about safety of cars on wet track due to less downforce in turns and tire temps.

If the on-track action does go ahead as normal and takes place in wet conditions, the logical follow-up question is how the new generation of cars will perform in what will be low-grip conditions.
“I drove the car when we did the shakedown in Silverstone in the wet and definitely it was very tricky,” championship leader Kimi Antonelli said on Thursday. “Although now with the changes, they clipped the power to 250 kilowatts for the wet and no boost, so that’s already a step forward in that regard.”
Antonelli highlights an important point: the FIA intervention during the April break not only concerns overall energy management, but also specific adjustments for wet conditions. In addition to improving visibility via the rear light systems, the FIA can indeed limit MGU-K deployment in “low-grip conditions”, which a wet race in Miami would logically fall under.
Moreover, the updated regulations – now formally ratified by the FIA World Motor Sport Council – state that boost mode, as Antonelli already indicated, is banned in such conditions, which should alleviate some of the drivers’ concerns.

at today's press conference they asked checo what he expects from this weekend
checo: well if the car doesn't have any engine issues we hope to start from p21
- oscar same question for you
oscar: well first we need to see if the car even starts

Most of us have been. You just repeat the same things a lot of the times.
Your last post about Checo and safety was good information

Wet racing would be scary in these cars. In the past they could floor it on the straights and trust that everyone else was doing the same and that they would all be going similar speeds. Now there is no telling what the car in front is gonna be doing. Low visibility combined with erratic speeds could be dangerous.

Well sounds like they have said if wet conditions, the power will be reduced. The bigger issue is how the front/rear wings play into things, the downforce in corners, the ability to heat up the tires due to lack of downforce, etc...
If it rains and they race, its going to be trial by fire and could get messy. Lets hope not.

Street circuit with walls and a typical southern Florida monsoon sound like a recipe for disaster.

Conflicting info... F1's "meteorologists" says chance is only like 30%, but actual meteorologists down there say 85% chance of storms.
Like I said on Tuesday when we started discussing, its Florida though... May be sunny and clear on Sunday for all we know.
ETA: I'm flabbergasted that F1 hasn't announced contingencies. Having been off for a month and the next race 3 weeks away, there is no way they can afford not to race this weekend.
