but I thought the FIA had stipulations of mandated time between quali and race
They have moved quali from Saturday to Sunday for a typhoon before. Usually F1 seems to just dick around and not do anything.
Could race earlier in the day as well.

Oh I totally forgot, I was going to announce the 2026 TD F1 prize structure during the break.
Thanks to your generous donations,
The Top 6 finishers now get prizes! The winners can choose an F1-related item (or items) worth up to:
P1 - $80
P2 - $40
P3 - $40
P4 - $40
P5 - $40
P6 - $40
You can search the internet for F1-related products in your prize range and I will get it to you. $40 is pretty tight, but there's some decent stuff available, even some decent stuff on sale or clearance at the official F1 store.
I wanted to boost the value for the winner because F1 merch is so damn expensive.
Last year the Top 3 got prizes worth up to $40. All three winners happened to choose a Bburago 1/24 scale McLaren/Lando model. The quality of this model was pretty good for the price!
I hope offering prizes down to P6 will keep people motivated towards the end of the season.

I feel like this happened recently. I seem to remember someone had damage during a wet qualy and there was a rush to get it repaired in time for the race.
Maybe Australia last year?
Edit: Nope, AI says:
2015 USGP
2010 Japanese GP
2004 Japanese GP
These races had qualifying on Sunday morning because of bad Saturday weather.
Edit 2: Frickin' AI. AI answered my question based on a reddit post from over two years ago.
2024 Brazilian GP Qualifying was on Sunday morning.
So my memory was sort of good! Instead of the beginning of the 2025 season, the postponed qualy happened at the end of hte 2024 season.
Never trust AI !!! It's only as good as the crap information on the web!

Will be funny if they do nothing and the race gets washed out... Would be a nice cherry on top to all the bullshite over the past 2 months.

I don't remember a race being moved a day ahead. Can't remember them all though
Would play hell for a lot of the VIPs and hospitality. Even a rain out is probably seen as better than a move forward this late in the game.

Maybe, but they have known about the risk for the past 2-3 days. I remember seeing snippets pop up on Monday around the forecast of bad storms on Sunday and race at risk and they waited til Thursday evening to attempt to put contingencies in place

Haven't been caught up doing the break. Did they implement the new changes during the break or just change the regulations starting next season?
Posted on 4/30/26 at 3:44 pm to iwyLSUiwy
They have implemented some changes to go into effect immediately.
They might make more changes after this weekend for the remainder of the season.
Hopefully have major changes for 27.
Brazil 24 they pushed qualifying to early Sunday morning and then still had to qualify during a torrential storm. Someone crashed and caused a red flag while Max was almost done with his flying lap. He got eliminated in Q1 or Q2 and then stormed past everybody to win the race and essentially lock up the championship.

Awesome, so they implemented these changes and are just now figuring out the ramifications in the simulators?
No superclipping, but more mild clipping

Why are you on this thread if all you are going to do is repeat your complaining?

Ok....
Wow, things are wonderful.... they fixed superclipping but inadvertantly increased overall clipping. What a great season
Better?

You keep repeating the same thing over and over. If you hate it so bad, why stay? Do you like complaining ?

Im sorry, did I miss where Alonso's quote was posted earlier
New info from the most seasoned driver on the track saying the new changes cured one issue and started another.
So we're not allowed to comment on new info as it comes out?

You just keep repeating your complaints
That’s my point.

And? This thread is to discuss the 2026 F1 Season and news as it comes forth. If something is shite, I'm going to say its shite. Tell F1 to quit doubling down on stupid and fix their fricking cars.
The positives have been Kimi leading and F1 trying to include drivers into the car discussions, albeit after the fact and Stefano being dismissive of them.
Guess you want an F1 circle jerk in the thread... Make sure you tell Vood, OU, and others that they aren't allowed to post anything negative about F1 in the F1 thread.

Agree, lets go back to 2025 when we can focus on making fun of Stroll and Osama-Bin-Russel... on and Horndog

I wish we could see more pictures of the women who work for the teams
