I admittedly have never been a F1 fan but my 11 year old son is a huge fan. Took him to the Austin race last fall and he had a blast. After the race, ran into George Russell at a restaurant at the table next to us. My son was starstruck and super nervous. When George and his group were leaving, my son got the courage to go up and talk to him and ask for a photo. George could not have been nicer. He talked to my son and took some photos. My son has talked about the 60 seconds George spent with him for months now. For that, I will always be a George Russell fan

That’s awesome. You learn a lot about well known people based on how they interact with fans. I remember watching mark richt at sec media days one year, he took time to speak and sign stuff for every fan that approached him, even non uga people. I was always a fan of him after that.

George is probably the favorite to win this year, so there’s a high chance your son can say he met a world champion.

Even terrorists can be nice people on an individual, personal level.

Chill. Bin Russel has already passed on the reigns to Talibanelli who single handedly prevented Max from getting those 2 points on multiple occasions.

And max running a bunch of laps today. Red Bull-Ford powertrains looking really good so far for a new PU supplier.

Redbull-ford powertrains has really impressed this week with their reliability, between the two teams they have run a ton of laps. No matter how they feel about him now, they owe Christian Horner a huge thank you for setting this up.

Looks like Charles and Lando have gotten close to the lap times set by George.

The Aston Martin seems to be the talk of the paddock. Newey has done things other teams never thought about. It’s the most aggressive car there and has been putting in lap times only a few seconds off the pace with their power limited. They arnt pushing hard on the straights, only doing 250-270kph right now, haven’t crossed the 300kph barrier yet. Could be a real competitor this year.

I've been waiting for a 2026 F1 thread to pop up here for weeks now and I just now thought to check the bottom of the page again.

Off-topic, but IndyCar just announced a race in DC for August as part of the 250th celebration, because Trump wants it. Probably because of Roger Penske's support for Trump. It's very late to plan a new race at a temporary circuit that has never been used before. Not to mention the massive security issues of having a big event in DC that extensively disrupts city traffic. It's nuts.

But it's racing. It's gonna be wild.

I think this will be a cool event. INDYCAR needs to do anything they can on their part to make it happen. I assume it’s planned to be a one time event. With Trump involved this will probably have the most bad arse gold trophy ever made.

I'm one of the guys that became an F1 fan because of Drive to Survive *ducks* and early on I wasn't a George fan because of the show.. Early on they definitely portrayed him as an arse. But after following regular for years now it's pretty clear he's a good guy. He is one of the only guys you see going up to others after a race congratulating them on the win and has a smile on his face, even if it was a race he was competing for the win. Always courteous in his interviews too. Not a Merc fan so i don't root for him but I do like George.

Doug Burgum said something to the effect of “this is a real opportunity to showcase the innovation of IndyCar.” My Brother in Christ, they all drive the same car.

Hey I am planning to attend a race in 2027 (all my vacation is booked for this year). Has anyone been to Hungary? The packages seem very reasonable price wise and I would like to visit Budapest.

But, I open to suggestions. Anyone have a track / trip to recommend? Thanks!

I spend two weeks in Hungary four times a year. If you have any specific questions I can definitely help.

First piece of advice is to stay at the Hilton Budapest in the castle district. It's amazing.

Nice. Thanks much. I have been wanting to visit Eastern Europe for awhile and a race seems like a good reason to go
