Technical issues.

Some good looking schemes in this race.

Bubba showing some short run speed taking the lead from Larson and setting sail. Let’s see if he can sustain it

Man, bad luck seems to find Blaney.

If Bubba hangs on to win, NASCAR Facebook will be an absolute shitshow tonight.

Larson wins after Bowman scraped the turn 4 wall coming to 5 to go.

Larsons car was perfect for the long run. Peaked at just the right time.
Hate to say it, but Bubba is proving to be a pretty good driver this season.

Check out Josh Berry's Darlington paint scheme.
Old farts (like me) will recall that the Wood Brothers handled the pit duties for the immortal Jimmy Clark when he won Indy in 1965 in the Lotus-Ford painted like this. The Woods are commemorating the 60th anniversary of that.
This is in the stratosphere if not hyperspace as far as coolness.

That scheme fricks.

Supposedly Glen and Leonard picked up on some things about stagger and weight distribution from Lotus while they were at Indy that they were able to take South and use to their advantage in their main gig.

Passer Rating: Measures a drivers efficiency in overtaking, tracking every passing opportunity throughout the race.
Long Run Rating: Evaluates tire management by tracking lap time degradation compared to other drivers on similar tire strategies.
Passer and Long Run Ratings for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead
Some of the data is confusing to me. Using Chase as example he rates high on passing but isn’t rated in top on tires.
If you pass a lot that means you are having to use up your tires to get to front. He had a penalty and had to come from back. So you can’t save tires. Same as start of race, he was back in the field so had to use tires to get to front. Frontrunners are able to save a bit of tire since already there.
Then Bubba doesn’t rate on passing but does on tires. He started up front but got passed a lot. If you are losing spots you are not good with tire management since you didn’t gain them back.
Cool chart but it will have to improve by factoring in other elements to be better data.

Wood Brothers pitting Clark at Indy in 1965, to go along with my earlier posts.

March 24, 1957: Glen Wood starts P2, leads a bit more than half the laps, and finishes where he started in the NASCAR convertible division race at Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, Virginia.
