Supposedly Glen and Leonard picked up on some things about stagger and weight distribution from Lotus while they were at Indy that they were able to take South and use to their advantage in their main gig.
That begs the question. With rules so tight and so much common template stuff how much can you move weight around? Everything is controlled in Nascar. Where you place weights is too, and has to be secured to not fall off which is huge fine.
I also believe Nascar learns all the tricks when they take cars back for teardown. And I think Nascar leaks the secrets to other teams via 3rd party sources to keep a level field.

Interesting data
Cup Series after 6 races:
Each driver's Average Finish and Average Running Position

Well since Glen is dead and Leonard is 90 and long retired, I'm betting the info they gleaned at Indy was employed in a bygone era where there was a lot more ingenuity involved. You can't do jack caca with such things today.

Yes, individual teams should have more leeway to innovate. That's part of what made the sport great.

How many more viewers would NASCAR have on big Fox?
Posted on 3/25/25 at 12:25 pm to FightinTigersDammit
And how many more viewers would Indycar have if not put head to head vs Nascar

FOX is horrible for NASCAR. Mike Joy is asleep half the time. No energy in their broadcast

You could put 3 12 year old boys in booth and it would be better. I do like Happy he adds value. But all their voice tones are mundane mixed together.
The only excitement is when Joy yells “spinner in turn 4”.

Mike Joy will be 76 years old in November. Everyone isn't Vin Scully who kept his broadcasting chops forever, or Bob Uecker who never lost his humor even when his voice was gone. There's no reason for people in their eighth decade of life to still be a sport's lead announcer. Get some energy in there. Al Michaels is another example.

I've been saying this since day one when they got the contract to broadcast the races. From the very beginning their production treated the viewers like they are children. Their commercial breaks are numerous and repetitive.Their broadcast booth until DW retired, was a childish playpen of goofballs fluffing each others egos for most of the race broadcasts.
I grew up during the days of Ken Squire, Buddy Baker, Ned Jarrett, Bob Jenkins and BP in the broadcasts. FOX has never come close to providing the coverage and energy that those guys did.

Don't forget guys like Dick Bergren and Doctor Jerry Punch in the pits.
And a tip of the hat to that all-around broadcaster/driver, David Hobbs, the Upper Boddington Flash.

Glad I’m not the only one that thinks the FOX announcers are dull. They show no emotion at all. Just a monotone dialogue.

I’m looking forward to Amazon broadcasts and getting Dale Jr back in the booth.

As I understand it there are approved, single supplier parts that can be used. Multiple springs, shocks, sway bars are on there. There are also multiple connection points that can be used for suspension parts.
I don't know if there are multiple control arms,,or just adjustable geometries on the uppers, shims etc.
Basically its adjustable in setup only. With that comes a little aero but only in how they can do it with suspension.
