Wow, Sammy Smith took out Gray. Gray survived so many cautions and raced clean. 2nd to last caution Sammy rammed Gray and moved him up and took lead. But another caution and restart, so Gray repaid favor but did it more gently. Then in last turns of lap 2 Sammy just took him out.
Thats not racing and Nascar should be ashamed if the carnage in this race. No one respects racing its flat out just blatantly wreck drivers. Thats not a sport and Nascar is continuing to screw up their series. Feel bad for the Gray kid he raced great all day long.
Smith needs parked to send a signal. Bit Nastycar loves this type racing and will do nothing

Well, he just fricking wrecked that guy, and a lot of cars got torn up.
But NASCAR doesn't have to repair the damage, and they have another highlight promo, so they don't give a frick.
They talk about controlling costs, but they don't give a damn.

Its ridiculous. This race had most cations in some years. Gray survived around 6 restarts maybe more, and then punk Smith pushed him quite hard on prior start but Gray made a great save. Then a cation came out and we had a GWC.
Like I have said I hate the GWC rule its robbing racers of wins. It needs renamed to Go Wreck Cars, because thats all it turns into. Gray is 19 or 20, and had another win taken away the same way on this track 2 years ago. In basketball they have flagrant fouls and Nascar needs something similar. Smith admitted it too. Because Nascar does nothing it signals to do it.
Last week Larson had a sure win taken away by GWC. Racers race all day long and have it ruined by some snot nosed kid who steals the win from the deserving driver. And the whole team suffers too, its not just the wrecked driver.

Really disappointed in the lack of respect on the track tonight. It’s a disgrace to this great series. Not many out there raced without just running into the guy in front of them. Not sure what we do to clean it up but something must be done.

Austin Hill had not seen a good replay of the finish but the whole race people were driving through people so hard to place blame (to be fair, when we showed him the video after the news conference, he seemed a little surprised at the Sammy Smith move)

Of course that race ended that way. Absolutely embarrassing. Shameful race.

Here’s the dirty driver saying he doesn’t know how to race and wrecking someone is justified. To me the first time he took Gray out was dirty but then the second one I posted video of was flat out wrecking someone. And this punk kid thinks thats ok. This mimics our society where some people feel privileged to steal or break laws because someone else does it. The only way he learns is if Nascar sits him. The only way. Or fans write his sponsor

It's like an old pitcher once said: a lot of guys spend so much time learning the tricks of the trade, that they never really learn the trade.

Why wait days? To see which way the wind is blowing? F1 does it during race or lets you know it will be reviewed within minutes of incident (so can be after race but only if it happened late, and then within a few hours at most). I’m liking Indycar more and more.

The Chase has caused most of this. Win and you’re in. Drivers don’t care about backlash because they are rewarded later in season as they get all the Chase press. And the Chase means non chasers get zero press.
Nastycar is really chasing fans away. And all the bad vibes about Sammy bleed over to the sponsors, who will get lots of negative social media posts. That in turn can scare new sponsors away from other drivers/teams. And Nastycar doesn’t seem to care.
Just like moving programming. I don’t get qualifying any longer and will miss 6 races starting Mem Day because they moved programming. I’ll watch other sports and racing series. And drift more and more away from Nastycar. Its on last legs and the new fans will leave soon enough.

The worst part about last night’s race, in my opinion is that it represented the opposite of everything that made me fall in love with racing when I was a kid.
I fell in love with this sport because of the art and chaos of finding speed, creativity in setting up passes, etc. It can truly seem like art.
Don’t get me wrong. There can an art/skill in moving someone. But there is no skill in plowing 6 cars into each other. Or just blasting it off into the curb at the last minute.

Plus the ghost of Dale still looms over the sport. Kids think they have to drive the way they THINK he drove.

He’s been qualifying and practicing well lately, it’s just not translating to race day, we’ll see if todays the day.

Ban 3:00 eastern start times for east coast races.

A Cup race on a Sunday in Virginia shouldn’t be starting at 3:00 EDT.

As I've said before, God and Big Bill France intended those races to start at noon Central.

Agreed. The only Cup races where it’s acceptable to start later than that are west coast races and Saturday night races (or Sunday night for the Coke 600).
